Yeah Zkling it would work fine 1-1 but I like the idea of variable control even if it is only a difference of 29 rpm. So when I'm cutting 1/8 steel I'm not at that painful slow speed I would be using to cut 1" steel, not to mention I have an over abundance of brand new three phase motors! I...

Or should I use my 1 1/2 hp 3phase baldor instead? any oppinions? I was told to D-rate the VFD by half when going with single to three phase since the current the wires is greater with single phase. So with the 1 1/2hp I'd need a 3hp rated VFD. Also if I mount the gear box directly to the drive...

Alright, I haven't completely lost all focus on the bandsaw conversion. Ok zkling you are 100% correct the only way to truly get the torque needed you must gear close to the speed you want and run the motor at full rpm. So my stubbornness did not overcome the physics of this problem after all...

Ya your right it was a lot smaller and for machinist tools mainly since it didn't have as many bigdrawers. The quality of construction was similar to the one I baught no difference in metal gauge or over lapping on seams. And I looked at the stamps on the back just to see hownoticeable they...

The universe is a strangething sometimes. http://vancouver.craigslist.ca/rch/tls/5108620928.html This just listed which is the same type of box but the real snap on. I'm going to go have a look just to see what the differences really are in terms of construction and metal thickness.

Ya it is strange that the snap on decal is centered and the top handle is not. The're are a lot on these boxes that seem right and a lot that don't. Not a piece of garbage anyway, still worth putting in a little tlc. Thanx for your input zling

So I took some more pics, it is heavy gauge steel and we'll built the wheels had swansonville Indiana on them. I thinck maybe the drawer draws were added but it is in fact snap on. Also there is a pic of how the snap on logo is attacched from the back, downy look like an add on to me I'd expect...

I just pocked up a couple of older snap on boxes I did a quick look online didn't see any with the solid stainless drawer draws not sure if these were added on or not. Does anyone know the year these were built or their value. I will be restoring them. Thanks,

Hah, seems like any spare time I get is when I pretend to work late and have a 30min snooze after work... Then the chaos starts when I pull in the driveway, and she wants a third.... But both kids are doing great two year old next week and two month old the following.

Ok been very busy, did however find a dream tool today a 3900 poitras drill press. A bit of a headache getting it home the guy had multiple people and did a bidding war which nearly made me walk. I don't usually stand for that type of business but after getting it home and reassembleing it I'm...
