I would buy a new one, and send the old core out for rebuild. That way you always have a spare and in the event of future failure, you will have the second core for rebuild. The old "two is one" philosophy.

The tough spot is the death rattle for those pumps. Anything beyond the hydraulic resistance feel of a fresh bearing are signs of it going toes up. Most of them will still pass fluid at line pressure when they fail, but will not hit operating PSI or have adjust ability.

You will have fun rebuilding it for sure. The common failures are water intrusion into the bearings, wear from scale or dirty water and freezing. I have broken many down to scrap, so i am afraid i cannot offer any advice on how to disassemble them gently.

Procon pump Attached is a Procon pump model matrix for your reference. We go through a lot of these where i work, and have tried several re builders with dismal results. The rebuilds had a much shorter lifespan, but were about half the price.

Safety 101- Anybody wanting to share their safety tips when using their tools??

If a tool - hand or power, is worn to the point of being unsafe or has a loss of effectiveness, discard it. Destroy it and put it with your metal scrap. Blunted flat blade driver tips, cammed out Phillips drivers and worn hex keys damage the fastener and can cause injury. I replace my 3,4,5mm...

    Catalogs

At work we get a updated McMaster catalog every year, but we order a lot from them. In a previous job, they rejected our catalog request. The online catalog is great too, but not a PDF.

    Stumped: Containers for Solvents?

If plastic is not a deal breaker, www.usplastic.com A quick look at the print catalog has solvent containers. Lots of other cool stuff there too. I use 4oz leak proof HDPE for distilled water to calibrate my TDS meter in the field. Beats carrying the whole gallon.
