That is EXACTLY what I did. The builder didn’t finish the garage drywall, just poorly taped the ceiling and none on the walls. As far as the ceiling, I got quotes to finish it ($1000) and no way was I paying that price to just finish the ceiling. And no way was I doing it! I hate drywall work...

The jack is totally fine. I do use plywood under it to not put the weight on each wheel of the jack likely causing damage. Jack stands are a different situation. I will have to get new ones that have a flat base rather than the four legs of angled steel I currently have. I think those would cut...
