    Finally Shop is complete!

I have finally joined the "hoist" club last week! That was the final addition that was needed for the shop, and after many years and other projects it was MY turn :) No more laying on the creeper!

    Big Maxx or Modine

I installed a 75K BTU Mr. Heater in October 09 and it has run flawlessly in my shop. I have an insulated pole barn that is 40 x 63 with a 14' ceiling. The heater is hanging in the corner and I have 3 60" ceiling fans running slowly to keep the hot air circulating. I am here in northern...

this is the second winter for my 75K Big Maxx unit and no issues yet, is there a production window that is affected?

New guy with a question about venting a Big Maxx heater

MoreDrums, I spanned the joists in the ceiling with 2X4's that I mounted angle iron to. The hung threaded rod down through the ceiling and with the help of my son, hung the heater from the rod. I used a level to mark the center point of the flue (allowing for the 1/4" per foot drop). I then...

New guy with a question about venting a Big Maxx heater

MoreDrums, I mounted mine at a 45 degree angle in the corner of the shop and vented horizontally out the side of the shed. I posted some pictures earlier in this thread. Worked great for me.

New guy with a question about venting a Big Maxx heater

Update on my Mr. Heater installation: After 2 months of winter here in WI I have noticed little affect on my propane usage in total. I have been keeping the shop at 38 unless I am in there, then I bump it up to 50. Takes about 40 minutes to warm the shop up, but it is 40 x 63 with a 14'...

    Heating a 36 X 60 Shop

I have a 40 x 63 x 14 insulated pole shed with R19 in the walls and R30 blown-in up in the attic. I mounted a 75K Mr. Heater propane fired furnace on the ceiling with 3 ceiling fans down the center of the shop. So far, it seems to do very well at keeping the shop at 45 unless I am in there...

About to pull the trigger on 75K BTU Mr. Heater

I also bought the venting from menards, think all in it cost me about $40. I bought a digital thermostat from there also, the lowest it will go is 45. I have the Mr. Heater 75K unit in my 40 x 63 X 14 garage. Three ceiling fans and all insulated, blowing in the attic next week to R38. It...

New guy with a question about venting a Big Maxx heater

The heater is working great, the 3 ceiling fans are up and do a great job pushing the heat down from the ceiling. Just one issue so far, the fan controller was only good for 2 fans, melted when I added the 3rd to the string. I have ordered an Envirofan 105F, says it is solid state and good for...

Underground copper lp gas line splice?

The guy that plumbed my heater yesterday ran a 1/2" copper tube to the black pipe on my shed. Said it was under 100' and 1/2 would work fine, but also made the comment that here in WI, no splices underground.

New guy with a question about venting a Big Maxx heater

Finally got my propane plumbed yesterday, hit the thermostat and it lit right up! Works great, although now I need to install the other 2 ceiling fans to push all that expensive heat down from up high.

New guy with a question about venting a Big Maxx heater

It does, but I thought that was ridiculous and installed mine horizontal with a 1/4" per foot drop.

    BigMaxx Heater Propane Installation

I mounted the heater and plumbed the black pipe myself. I have the propane company coming out next week to run the underground from my 500 gal tank that supplies the house. It is about 50' away from the shop, I was quoted $1.50/ft for the line, $50 for the regulator on the shop and $50 service...

Heat for a 40x60 pole building??

The bigger heater would most likely cycle on and off more, not an optimal solution in my opinion. My shop is 2520 sq ft, but I am only going to keep it at 40 unless I am in it. I put a programmable thermostat up yesterday (so I don't forget to lower the temp when I leave).
