VISE REPAIR 101 all vise repairs, lubricants, sources for parts and the tricks to fix

Why destroy it. Sounds like a good repair. Make it a user and get it in the hands if someone that doesn't have the funds for a high dollar vise but still wants the look. Just my 2 cents Sent from my LM-V405 using The Garage Journal mobile app

My guess is it went on hot and was crimped down if it's is not got enough spring to get it off that would be my route. You will nick something with the dremel Sent from my LM-V405 using The Garage Journal mobile app

My 2 cents. Slide should be bare. As to the finish I like to take a burr to the high spots and leave it rough. Bottom line it's your vise. Finish it the way you like Sent from my LM-V405 using The Garage Journal mobile app

    Vise Info Thread

I just picked up an ex cell o ram mill with a 42 in table looking for a rotary table and it pushed my old Logan pretty hard. To be honest most of the machining was outside my wheelhouse when I started I had some idea how to do it but for example I had never ground a lathe tool myself or cut...

I am sure most of you have seen this old Fulton star I brought back to life. VISE REPAIR 101 all vise repairs, lubricants, sources for parts and the tricks to fix

Well its all done, its been fun but I am ready for a new project. About 160 hours and 75 bucks including the vice. I would never do another swivel base without a rotary table. Too dangerous and hard on end mills. Cast iron billets would have been better than the steel but were out of the budget...

Thanks. Its a little farther along but I don't want to spoil the surprise. On the nut. It is brazed. It was done prior to me but I re did it. There was some holes and such so I just laid in some more. To be honest I havent brazed anything since high school. 30 plus years ago so I was winging it...
