    Dishwasher as a parts washer?

I bought a used dishwasher from my neighbor for 40 bucks. It’s an old KitchenAide, maybe 8 or 10 years old, but they said it works. I hooked it up in my garage next to the utility sink as a parts washer. I ran it on Pots and Pans and used the Hi-Temp wash and Sani-Rinse options and some cascade...

Ok to put kitchen and living room lights on same breaker?

Depending on the draw. Just "tally your bananas" and ensure you are not over drawing the circuit.

Kitchen question (caulking) granite counter, tiled backsplash

The solution is certainly between caulk over or recaulking. Don't do anything to hide it. The point of the caulk is to make the area watertight -- you need to know if it needs to be dealt with in the future. That said, if you are confident that the area was well prepped prior to applying the...

Suggest A Drill Press For Under $500

Watch CraigsList for a used ShopSmith -- I spent $200 on a 1949 ShopSmith when I was shopping for a stand-up drill press. Best $200 I ever spent -- the ShopSmith lays down so you can use it as a horizontal drill press as well -- Many other uses too, plus the just don't build tools like that anymore.

    Thoughts on Ikea Cabinets...and layout

The Ikea cabinets are just as good as any other brand of assemble-yourself cabinets. The layout appears to lack any creativity whatsoever. What all will you be storing in the garage besides the cars and the tools mentioned? Is the amount of work space actually adequate? When I planned out my...

What are you using for a Workbench top?

I'm using doubled-up 3/4" plywood with a laminate surface. The double-up was done with both glue and screws and makes for a surface with very little flex. This was important in my case as I have a number of tools mounted or clamped to the edge.
