I've been wanted to post this Art Metal cabinet that is dedicated to vacuum tubes and ancillary parts and supplies, this isn't a common brand in these parts. I don't know the exact vintage, it does have a patent date of 1915. It has a yale lock on the bottom with a brass handle that will lock...
Maybe I'll try to spec those feet at McMaster Carr or someplace- measuring the ones I have.
Since this one's in service as a buffer I'm not as driven to get the tool rest. What I'd really love to find is the quenching tray!
What you see behind the grinder is a power supply for a tube phono...
This is my newest- couldn't stop at just one.
It's a $20 CL purchase- 1/2 HP. It came almost 100% complete, I don't reckon it was used very much. The stones are new looking and now on my other grinder. I didn't show the two buffing wheels it came with that are new in the packages because they...
I've got lots of Craftsman but not much Crown top, I'm posting two things- a mechanics chest which has the badge in a different location from the one posted above- mine is in the lower right corner instead of centered. I paid like $60-70 on ebay- got impatient looking for the $10 garage sale...
Becoming a Blockhead:
All the parts are there- model 397.19580 from 1964. It came out of an old gents attic, his grandson was selling it on CL. He had been a lathe operator at a local shipyard and made jewelry at home. I include the carpet that was on the bottom of the grinder- it shows its...
Always enjoy seeing your posts.
I worked in the theater years ago, we would use that spatter paint technique to give the appearance of texture when painting scenery. You can tap a brush on your hand to spatter the paint, and you can control to some extent the size of the droplets. We also used...
I picked up a craftsman lathe with tools recently but later vintage, around 1950 and not as sweet. That's good because if it was as nice as yours I might not want to use it, which would be a shame. It has the original emerson motor, only 1/3 HP that's barely enough. My 12 yr old is learning to...
I couldn't pass up this estate sale find- a weather beaten cowboy of a drill. Can't find anything about it yet. Thought I'd submit it to the experts here for scrutiny. It has blue paint remnants and a trace of red. Reminds me of craftsman colors. Anybody have a clue?

The Black lead goes to the part being de-rusted- the Red goes to the anode- the re-bar! I remember this as the part being de-rusted will turn oxide black- so it gets the black lead. the re-bar will turn red with rust- it gets the red lead.

Love the shop. I dabble about equally in tube audio and woodworking, and yours is the first shop I really relate to. Tough to keep the dust out of the audio stuff though. I'm going to steal your test lead hanger idea, thanks for posting.
