    Kitchen cabinets

Standard is 36" countertop height, 18" clear to uppers (54" from finished floor). Most ranges require the 18" tall clearance for at least 12" either side of the range. We've been doing a lot of bigger kitchens lately with 24" clear to the bottom of the uppers, but it won't work with a microwave...

Need US Made Compressor Purchase Help, Going into Analysis-Paralysis!

I believe the older Saylor Beall's also had the plugs on top. This one is listed as a 67. I have a Stewart Warner branded compressor from the late 70's judging by the tank date, and I'm pretty confident they were real Saylor Beall's. The block, cylinders, head, and unloader all match casting...

Thanks Ryan. It's the fixes like these that will keep this site as an incredible resource moving forward.

    V3 Bug/Suggestion Box

It may already exist as a plug in, as VerticalSuck limits to 10 posts edited in 7 days IIRC in their XenForo systems.

    Insulation question, please jump in

Plan at this point is leaning towards continuous ridge vent, intake between each rafter at the eaves, 1 1/2" vent space, continuous baffle of 1/2" rigid foam, then fiberglass bats below to fill the cavity. I'm in Zone 3 though, so there is much less to deal with here to get proper R value for...

    Insulation question, please jump in

I have a similar setup I am working on insulating, with a 10x20 GlueLam Beam. I am looking at a modified ridge vent detail with what my roofer referred to as a "Boston Ridge", where the ridge vent is widened out to clear the beam...

Which Type of 220V Plugs for New Shop?

Most higher output electric car "chargers" (it's actually not, as the charger is in the car) are hard wired, not plug in. I'd allow for at least a 60 amp circuit for that(80 would be better), just run to a box with a blank plate until you add a charging apparatus. The charger for our Fusion is...

The Garage Journal Will Be DOWN!

I've got to admit, I was one of the ones nervous about the change, as every forum I'd been on that switched from VBulletin to XenForo had major issues with layout and searches after the change. Since the initial announcement here though, one of the other forums I'm on switched from the latest...

Attempting to hang cabinets in garage... problems?

Yep, Like I said, we always call for it on our submittals (the architect usually does also), however 9/10 if it's an existing wall the GC won't open it to install it, and just has us hang off the studs.
