    thanks for the input, links and videos. Thanks for the terrifying thought. My guess is that if there were a grade beam, it would run between the column and the exterior wall and I'm not going to open the floor across that line. so "hopefully" won't have that issue.

    So I have a Snap-on mid-rise lift (the later one with 2 hydraulic cylinders, similar to the bendpak MD-6MP). it's about 3'x6' surface area and about 4" high. I'd like to cut the garage floor and sink the lift in to the floor so it's flush when not in use. I'm sure there's a thread somewhere...

    Laying out my floor. decided I'm going to go with Swisstrax (yup, I have some of big Racedeck samples, prefer the Swisstrax). trying to decide ribbed vs smooth, wonder what others have thought/decided. Smooth - much easier on the knees when working, Jack rolls easier and moves better...
