    Renting a trencher for waterline?

I did a very similar job at my house a few years ago. Ran about 500' of new line from the meter to my existing plumbing. Rented a ride-on trencher and used black poly. I checked into standard pex for the job, but it was significantly more per foot with no particular advantages. The black...

From my home garage to commercial garage

I think you should make it into a ball pit. :)

    Is this garage salvageable?

Seems like any repair to the building is going to require proper drainage and reinforcement along that back wall. A small initial investment with a civil engineer is probably in order here. I wonder if it would be feasible to dig the sides of the building out, and then go inside and remove the...

    Service truck ideas

Ditto on the fire extinguishers. I almost lost a brand new f-350 a couple years ago. Had an aftermarket inverter mounted in the floor on the second row of the crew cab, and it shorted out and caught fire. Was able to use the fire extinguisher to keep the flames at bay while I disconnected the...

What is NOT safe to weld?

I saw about 12 seconds of heat. Then it pulls up and away. The description of the video mentions that the weld started a fire on the bead of the tire, and it continued to burn, using the inflation air in the tire for combustion.

    The road trip ammo can

A ziploc bag with some disposable latex or nitrile gloves. Maybe something to lay on if you have to get under the car. Or just use your floor mats. Have fun man! Those kind of drives are great.

Stone or grass up the side of the garage? (Pic)

Stone, with a weedblocking fabric or heavy plastic underneath. Cut a small trench or use a timber border for quick mowing. After fighting off several invasion of ants that lived (and arrived, I think) in mulch, I'm never putting it against my structures again.

    The Concrete Underground

In that last perspective from across the river, the house is starting to make those massive steps look teensy. Wow.

The Droobarn, my (small) slice of garage heaven

You could build some pretty sweet shelves behind the kneewall, and in between the trusses, in your attic. Cool car, functional and affordable building. Sweet!

Anyone know about compactors for floor base prep?

I'd second the plate compactor style, for prepping a slab area. Small lifts of material, maybe even wetted down, and lots of passes.

    My leaning garage fix

I'd make the repairs in the same order you would build the building. Start at the bottom and work your way up, squaring and re-inforcing as you go. I'd also ignore the "tear it down" guys, and I'd strongly disagree with the get your money back premise on tearing down and building new. (Unless...

Anybody said "Screw it I'm renting a building" ?

I'd vote for renting it to an exotic dancer. She'll sleep there all day, and be gone at night when you work. What could go wrong?

Tunneling my electric under sidewalk, need suggestions

Looks good! Glad you got through. I've done a couple of those around my house and it can be frustrating. For future readers, i did a blind 30' bore from the basement of an outbuilding to a pit under the main house with a Borzit device and a Milwaukee hole hawg. Went under two walls and 15' of...

    The Concrete Underground

Mount A go-pro or similar camera on the end of the 100' telescoping boom, then lift it up as high as it will go and see what you can get. Or, if you need an excuse to buy a toy, this quadcopter is controlled by your iphone and has a 720p camera: Or just forget about it. I'll still read...
