i do most "woodworking" stuyff in the basment, usually because that typr of projects get done in the winter, and i dont hae room in the garage for a table saw and miter saw. no place to store other hand operated cutting/drilling devices
i have a set up to 2" picked them up MAIL ORDER (harbor freight?) back in the early 90's
ive been abusing them ever since. they all have sledgehammer marks on them. havent broken any as yet.
shop has a newer set from HF.
i bought a new house in '86 in winter park (nw of orlando) it had nat gas heat, stove, dryer & hot water heater and was told there was also a gas line routed to the fireplace that was never connected.
back in the 60's when my dad had a new garage built he ran out a gas line to the garage as well...
mid 80's i remember seeing a lot of "made in canada" snap on boxes that weren't stamp well. i have a similar box but mine has full drawers.

ive been buyig tools since 1975 wen i started my machinist apprenticeship, switch "carrers" in the mis 80's to a heavy equipment mechanic, cant recall ANY tool that ive bought that hasnt been used at least once.
im at the point now in life that some of the stuff is set to be sold off.
bought a tubing nother when i was putting a cage in my '88 s-10 blazer. usd it once , then went back to an angle grinder. been sitting on a shelf ever since.
cant ever recall buying any tools i didnt have a use for in the past 50 years since i started buying tools.
i arm wrap them and toss them into a heavy duty storage tote that measures 35"W x 22" H X 22" deep. it's nearly full to the top. and is stored downstairs with Xmas decorations.

only tool i can recall being a "worthless" buy was a cheap tubing notcher. i used it once and tossed it on the shelf.

i cant recall ever selling a tool that i bought, going all the way back to 1976 when i bought my basic machinist tools.
machinist boxes are long gone, as well as the 1st set of real toolboxes i ever bought.

im a couple years from retirement, been wrenching on const eq since the mid 80's. i havent bought a "working tool" in several years. i have picked up some cordless Milwaukee yard tools for the wife, and an additional dewalt 1/2 dr drill and 6 1/2" cordless saw for some stuff around the house
