You’ll need to have a load on your main hook to set lock. While in the hoist/raise mode, just pull the rope about 30 to 40 degrees to set lock. Kinda works like a Venetian blind that’s on many older homes windows!

I’ll look forward to the progress of your project. I have one in my shop but haven’t found a supplier for the main ribbed drive belt. My drill press is still useable but main drive belt has a small tear and it’s only a matter of time when it’s gone.
