    what do you guys think about putting foam board as insulation for the ceiling, it's open 2x6s so I was thinking of some foil covered 2" board?

    I thought it was a 5 ton, but it's actually a 4 ton. I already have the unit, made a good deal on it from a local business that was remodeling. I really would only need it when i am working in there, so not all the time, maybe 6 hours a day at most. I really wouldn't need to open the doors...

    once I get the better garage doors it's gonna be tight. I have zero gaps and I put up vapor barrier just like a house.

    So gents and ladies I have a 30x40 with open ceilings that has 14' walls and 22' in the centers at the interior peak...that's a lot of air. Anyhow, I have a 5 ton unit that I am getting ready to install. The caveat is that my garage is not insulated nor my doors. It's currently 85f with 75%...

    @Marctrees Marctrees Hey man, I just wanted to tell you my garage made it through a category 4 storm where the eyewall passed over my garage. So I guess, my engineering calculations were correct. Maybe you can come down off your soap box and learn somthing. ;)

    It will have to be pulled through 10" of 4000 psi cement and 1/2" reinforced rebar on the edge of the footers. Then I have each post protector bolted to the 6x6s with galv lag bolts and that was put in prior to the slab being poured. For further pull up protection I have wet set simpson strong...

    That was the plan, I'll have a loft in the back for more storage and a toilet up there.
