    Erosion control with concrete rubble

As a professional engineer who has worked in erosion and sediment control for almost 50 years, I would caution you about putting broken up concrete in a creek. Even though it may seem like it is very similar to using riprap to slow down flows and reduce erosion, there are several issues that...

    Craftsman VS Gearwrench ratcheting wrenches

I have both GW and CM sets and have used them for several years with no problems from either. I usually grab GW first though as they seem a bit smaller on the outside, particularly the open end part and just seem to feel better in my hand. I know some folks don't like them, but they have really...

    Craftsman set missing a piece?...

I have had a similar problem a couple of times with missing sockets in a socket set that I ordered. One time I took the receipt and went back to the store where they gave me the missing socket with no problems. The other time, the guy wanted me to exchange the whole set for another set in the...

Trouble having getting Craftsman sockets replaced

FYI, this set has a list price of about $100 but is frequently on sale for $25-30 and I have a set, none of which has failed YET. Having said that and based on the OP's experience, when I have one fail, I will plan to take the whole set if needed for exchange. You might also either get online...

    NAPA Evercraft

Two comments: 1) Price differences from store to store is not unusual. For example, my wife and I compared several items at different Wal-Marts within the local area. One local town has 3 stores within 5 miles of each other. There was significant difference between prices. We asked an employee...

Building new 3 car attached garage or 4 car?

I like the CNG alternative but would also point out that the lift part likely needs to be wider than 14 ft. A lot of lifts are almost that wide. I would prefer being able to walk outside the lift to get past it instead of beneath.

    New garage advice.

Depending on whether you are using it mostly for car storage/protection from weather or need a lot of electrical included. If you get this, you will likely delay getting your "dream garage" for a long, long time.

Bought my first Ride on mower....

That Snapper should last a long, long time if you take reasonable care of it. Biggest thing is lubrication, changing oil and greasing. Also, checking tire pressure each time. Real gas help, too, as the most common issue with the engines seems to be needing to rebuild the carb -- you see this...

    HF open Box Items

Looks like the usual thought is that unless you can get a better deal, you are better off with the sale price or use the 20% off coupon. This is what I have seen at several HF stores.

Going to buy a HF 20ton press....any suggestions?

I have the HF orange 12 tons which I got on sale. Not as big as the 20 tons but has served my purposes well with no problem and doesn't take up as much room.

What's a good shop creeper stool

I have a wooden Craftsman that is only about 14 in. high and non-adjustable. It works good for low jobs. I also have a hydraulic round one that is adjustable, also Craftsman. It is easy to adjust, but I have learned that even with the 5 wheels, it is not very stable. At least a couple of times...

Unmount wire bead lawn mower tire

Thanks to all for the suggestions. The rim is not a two-piece which would have been easy but does have the portion that is a lot smaller as shown by the wizard. I will try that approach, and if that doesn't work, will try the angle grinder. I had tried earlier with tin snips but could not get...

Unmount wire bead lawn mower tire

I have a Snapper rear engine rider that has tires with a wire bead that does not stretch a little to get over the rim like I am used to doing. Anyone encountered this and have any words of wisdom. The bead broke loose fairly easily but the bead just won't stretch to get over the rim. I even...

What is your Pet Peeve about your Tools?

Having to search for a special tool that I know I have but can't seem to find. Also, losing a wrench, most likely a socket, while working on the engine of a car. It didn't fall through so did the tool monster eat it? Always the most common size so I end up having to buy another to replace it.

Help Please: HF Retractable Air Hose Reel Installation

Just saw the post. The reel and hose is pretty heavy plus you are pulling on it. I mounted mine directly to the studs in the wall with big lag bolts. From my experience, I would NOT expect drywall anchors to hold up for very long, i.e., would be surprised if they made it through the first real use.
