TV wall mount onto metal studs

I'd use a piece of 3/4 plywood, span 3-4 stud bays. Make this a "pad" to mount your tv mount to. The idea is to spread the load over a greater area then the mount itself. Dress it up with stain or paint. Hope this helps.

Vinyl over Shake Siding with large reveal

I suggest sheeting with OSB or PLY THEN insulate with sheet foam and tape all joints. Fir strips over studs gives solid nailing surface and a drain plane. Depth of foam depends on r value req'd. I have done as much as 2", but then had to build out all openings, house is now heated via a...

a question about making a straight wall

First, you need to "crown" your lumber w/ all "HIGH SIDES" facing same direction. Second, lumber moves with moistures changes. I suggest a 2x4 "top plate" that is then "capped" by a 2x (6-8 depending on preference) as a handrail. Corners should be 4x4, thru bolted. The 2x4 will need to be...

I have done a considerable amount of construction. To answer your question is nearly impossible unles you give me a soils study, ground water charts, and a size of the vault. I will say, ANYONE using the materials you are, in a manner that you are, should just consult an engineer, geologist...
