Now I'm legit. 28x30 Garage Build.

Researched what paint to use pretty thoroughly, including this site. Consensus of opinion was to use oil base primer on OSB in order to seal it and prevent delamination over time. I suspect this may be true because we have several OSB interior walls / partitions at my work - the walls primed...

Progress has been slowed some by the weather (again) and because electrician. R13 in the walls. Should be enough. Bought R19 for the ceiling, but Lowes delivered the wrong width so we're trying to get that resolved now. Took a little while to get the walls up (like 3 weeks, at a...

Dropping down to 30' width probably means one project at a time. That's not really a problem, since I got myself buried in projects before. Have a 22x20 attached garage for parking and car storage, so the shop can be just that.

Wish I could tell you. I made a pretty elaborate scale drawing showing where everything was going, but changing the dimensions kinda threw that out the window. I know the compressor is going in the back corner on the walk-through door side, and everything else I'll just have to freestyle.

Thanks. This is my first from-scratch garage build. My old place in ATL I was working with what was already there. Guess this one will be where I learn what works and what doesn't. Haven't decided if I want to stay here long term (another 15-20 years) so the smaller building fits my needs...

Been saving up since before I even bought my house, almost 2 1/2 years ago. Finally got almost enough money together last fall, and weather channel was (then) predicting a warm dry winter so I figured it would be done by end of January at the latest. 'Preciate cha, Jim Cantore. :lol_hitti...

    Question for machinists

Thanks very much for all the replies and input. The tooling we have for the mill / lathes is minimal. I don't know what we had to begin with, and whether or not fellow employees toted it home one piece at a time, or if it went to the pawn shop like a lot of tools and equipment that used to be...

    Question for machinists

Building a short runner intake for a turbo car. Need to bore and radius six 1.75 (aprox) holes in a piece of 3/8 or 1/2" plate. I found a thread covering the how-to on VW Vortex (where I stole that pic from) but one, the guy didn't specify exactly what the tool was called, and two, it looks...

    Question for machinists

What end mill or cutter is used to create a radius like in the pic above? Preferably something that could be used on a mill not equipped with a rotary table. Thanks in advance.

The show that was filmed at Austin Speed Shop (can't remember the name) - the crew posted to various web forums and social media - almost in real time - that the show was fake, all the conflict / arguments / fights were scripted, or even contrived by cast members themselves because they were...

Not an actual fab project, just trying to improve my aluminum TIG. Working with a friend who is a certified AWS instructor, trying to get my 3G / 4G certs.

    Propane theft

The question has to be asked so I'm askin. Why? They use that to make meth or something?

    Propane theft

A local propane sales place has been having a problem with somebody cutting through the fence and filling up a 100lb cylinder. Guy just casually rolls it in on a handtruck like it ain't no thing. They got it on their surveillance camera, several times, but police haven't caught the guy yet.

    Von Dutch's Tool Box

An acquaintance of mine, not a close friend, just somebody I know, is a freelance writer, and was trying to piece together a zine article playing off the popularity of the Von Dutch logo (and I guess nutswing off Ganahl's book which had then just come out). Like an article you'd see in GQ or...

    Von Dutch's Tool Box

So I was right, then. Even taking the long way around. I knew the Bruckers, being principle caretakers and patrons of Howard for many years, held a large collection of his artwork / knives / guns / BS. And have done well for themselves selling it off. IMO they deserve it for taking care of...
