    Chimney fix-up

Curious. That may be where the water shows in the bedroom but, not necessarily where the water enters the wall. Have you considered stripping the chimney so you can actually see what the brick looks like? There could be cracks/voids hiding.

    Chimney fix-up

I'm with the stucco guy. 3/4" would be my minimum. If it ain't right water will find a way in.

    Existing concrete slab/patio question

You might consider the value of the finished project and compare it to the cost of removing the existing and doing a FPSF. If there is any risk of frost heave damaging the new structure then....

    Water Heater Under Garage Sink

I used one of the small instant-hot jobs in a remodel I did many years ago. It worked well for basic hand washing but I never tried to test its maximum output.

    Security cameras without cloud connections

I'll be following this as I too would like such a system. Years ago, this was a common setup but, apparently, technology has 'moved-on'......

    Tire changer and balancer combo

Yup, also 'was' a Discount tire customer but, the wait times are crazy. I have looked at some equipment offered at the local auction house. https://bid.barnoneauction.com/catalog/626385/monthly-public-auction---woodburn--or?q=balancer They usually have the tire machines in addition to the...

looking for paint recommendation for painting over spray foam

My ins agent is a pretty stand-up guy but, yes, companies can drop you for just about any reason. The flip side is that if you ask the agent and he gives some direction then you have 'some' cover if the foam were to be an issue. YMMV

looking for paint recommendation for painting over spray foam

I have several buildings with spray foamed roof assemblies and my shop is sprayed 100% walls/ceiling and the county inspectors never even mentioned a need to cover the foam so if an inspection is required then ask them. You could also ask your insurance agent if he/they have any needs/wants. As...

    Honeycomb edges - slab repair

If the product indicates it will feather to 1/8" or less, then there is little/no aggregate of any size and should work for your repair.

My First Shop Build (40x50x14) - feedback appreciated

I second the bathroom idea. If not actually building one at this point at least put in the 3" ABS and run to the face of the fdn so you have some option later if you can then pump from a holding tank.

Is any of this bracing for assembly and could be removed for more space?

Typical roof trusses, only designed for weight of sheetrock and not much else. What I see in the pics looks to be wind load bracing for the gable end.

    The possibilities are endless?

You could cast an insulated mono slab (frost protected shallow foundation) and not deal with rocks, and be stacking ICF blocks the next day. Spray a coat of recycled latex paint on the block to stop UV. Yes, this sound easier than it actually is but, it is easy enough to work with since you are...

    The possibilities are endless?

If you haven't already ruled out other building styles left me suggest using ICF. Yup, giant Legos. I have erected several ICF buildings including my current home, 37 x 62 two level, and an extra 30x30 garage. These are actually pretty easy for a talented DIY guy as long as you follow the...

    Steel storage racks

Pallet racking is plenty stout and it is possible to modify if you have some welding talent. I recently bought some industrial shelving to store ammo on in my gun room...that lead gets heavy... Very good product and good prices. Materialflow.com in Donald Oregon, south of the PDX metro...

Workshop planning process - suggestions welcome

Such a skinny lot does not give many options. Were it me, I'd use the 25' between the house and drainfield and build a shop full width of the lot. Yup try for a variance, sometimes 'they' aren't so bad. Put OHD on both sides of the building so you can drive thru to the back.
