Building new garage - Ceiling height for lift?

my ceiling is 12 ft 6 inches and that was just enough clearance to get a paint roller between the top of the lift and the ceiling. anything less and you will not be happy.

Best way to hang/store yard tools?

horizontal 2x4 screwed into studs then various hooks screwed into 2x4. So if you want to change configuration later......not a bunch of holes in OSB or whatever your sheeting is.

    Powder coating wheels

the problem with PC is taking lug nuts off/on the surface will chip. having tires installed will also chip. how do you "touch up" the chips? Spray bomb has an almost infinite choice of colors and will last many years if you properly prep the wheels, and you can touch up any chips without much...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Anyone plywood garage ceiling? 24” o/c

It's' not BS if I see it with my garage and and every neighbor's garage. Custom homes by different builders over a stretch of 20 years or so. YOUR experience may vary.

Sprinkler winterization - leave sprinkler valves partially open during winter?

I installed unions on both sides of my backflow valve. After winterizing the system (blowing out the water with compressed air)....I disconnect the unions and take the backflow valve to the basement. That avoids accidental water release to the winterized Sprinkler system and insures my backflow...

    compressor oil

You are overthinking this...any synthetic compressor oil will work. Not much variance in viscosity when you read the labels.

Anyone plywood garage ceiling? 24” o/c

I used 7/16 inch OSB on 24 " center and caulked the seams. Drywall seams will crack in any garage due to temp swing unless HVAC is at consistent temp.

    Full view garage doors

I would be worried about ease of breaking glass and easy entry, not someone looking in.

    Garage walls

Drywall seams ALWAYS crack over time with changes in temp and humidity. I drywalled my attached garage and had a professonal tape/mud it. It started cracking within a year (the pros predicted that would happen). My detached garage has 3/4 OSB on the interior walls (2x6 studs on 16 centers). Why...

Detached garage insulation And venting recommendations

I would not use drywall.....too much temp swing in a detached garage unless you plan on keeping it continuously heated and/or cooled for a full season. Drywall joints WILL crack with temp swings. My Son-In-Law just recently insulated and covered the walls with plywood (no joint filler) and...

More Lift Questions. 4 vs 2. Cheap vs $$

my recommendation is to find a local dealer that is willing to come to your garage and help you decide what type (2 post or 4 post), load capacity, brand, etc. Most equipment dealers sell several brands with a wide range of prices. WHO you buy from is just as important as WHAT you buy. I would...

    Power Requirements

I only have half of the equipment from your list in my detached garage. But I had a 200 AMP service installed by a licensed contractor and I will never have to worry about an "upgrade" down the road.

    Comfort Zone Heater

the link is for a 17,500 BTU unit? That is not going to move the temp much in that size building. I don't know what the calculations are, but 10X that is probably what you need depending on how well insulated the building is.
