Shopping at goodwill fod hand tools

Similar to Goodwill, check to see if there is a Habitat for Humanity ReStore in your area. It's their retail outlet that sells donated items to fund HH builds. You can sometimes find good stuff.

Show me your shovel and long handled tool storage

Stack them deep. Not all along the wall. That just wastes lots of wall space and unless you plan on using shovels and rakes multiple times a week there is no reason to make them that accessible. You might have to move some tools to reach the one you want but you only use them a few times a year...

Show me your shovel and long handled tool storage

The mower fits underneath when the stuff is hanging. All that pegboard was already there so I hang extension cords, line trimmer spools, ear protectors, etc on the hooks above the mower between the Echo trimmers and the rakes and shovels.

    Lets see your workbench

I attached mine simply using Loctite PL Premium construction adhesive. My frame wasn't 100% straight in all the joints so a nice thick bead of PL adhesive filled in any minor gaps and creates a super tight bond when fully set. Clamped it all down and put heavy stuff on the top overnight. It...

    Toolchests mounted in workbenches

Think about how many times you will have a project spread out all over the work area and then realize you need a tool in the box that requires you to flip up the work area. That would get annoying fast.

    Lets see your workbench

The framing was all welded from scratch. It's all one solid piece. It's 8 ft by 8 ft.

    Lets see your workbench

Just finished building this today. Boxes are the HF 44 and the side box for it. The white thing is a mini-fridge. Hard to see but at the top right corner of the mini-fridge is a bottle opener riveted to the frame. Framing is 1.5" square steel tube. Shelf is single 3/4" plywood. Top surface is...

    DIY Uline style industrial shelving?

going to be tough to beat the economy of scale afforded a company like ULine. Unless you somehow score most of the material free as scrap or something.

    Kid activities/chores in the garage

There's a company, geared more to wood work, called Red Toolbox that makes kid-sized real tools and a whole slew of wood working kits for kids to learn how to use tools, etc. Real saws, real drill, real screw drivers and hammers, etc. Just smaller for kids hands. The kits range from very...

Black Friday in the Tool World

If the majority of Americans knew anything about tools or quality and gave a thought to purchasing a tool the same way people on this site do then major retailers wouldn't be selling cheap Chinese goods in the first place. But the vast majority of people in this country want the most stuff...

Should a Lincoln 140 MIG welder have 4-pin gun trigger receptacle?

I have the same welder. I'm pretty sure the confusion is because it can use an optional spool gun that is different from the normal gun it comes with. If nobody else answers more clearly I'll go look at mine after the kids go to bed. It'll be a couple hours maybe.

    Tooling organization

Every time I see your cabinet doors I think the black parts should be chalkboard paint. I like the black look, and the chalkboard paint lets you write notes too. And the chalk doesn't get ruined if you leave the cap off it like dry erase markers. And if you accidentally drop one on or mark on...

sticker shock for a 30X40 in Texas

One of the problems is also that the construction industry never really "took a dump" in Texas. 8 out of top 15 fastest growing cities last year were in Texas. I'm guessing supply costs are up due to the demand. Same with labor costs. In my area of Texas, houses are on the market 3-5 days...
