Just read this thread, I have a couple of comments. 1st. Don't try to sell scrap rail without a receipt for it. 2nd. If you see some track workers, stop and ask them for a small piece for an anvil. Most of them will give you piece.
I've got several old black finish SO tools. Combination, rachets, and sockets. 3/8" and 1/2" drive. I like them. I got most all of mine from my dad when he retired.
Yea I know all about those business car trips. But you should have saved those wheels. Everyone that sees my stand wants one or two. Unfortunately they are a little hard to come by now.
I keep popping in to check thing out. Thanks.
I made my grinder stand and vise stand out of 4" pipe and a couple of old motor car wheels. Do you remember the old motor cars Trackwelder? I'll post picks when it stops raining and I can get my Model A and bikes out of the garage.
rail comes in many different sizes. I've seen as small as 56 lb. and as large as 140lb. Some of the old mine rail is even smaller. The way they measure weight of rail is not by the foot, but by the yard. So 140lb. rail every 3ft. Rail is extremely hard and hard to machine.
