Just for fun, if you are of a certain age- do you still have any of your first tools?

At 66, I have the 50 yr old (16th birthday) Crescent socket set from my grandfather's small-town hardware store. From my Mom's side I have an ancient ball-peen hammer her father used to assemble open-frame bedsprings.

Is This A Snap On Box? If So, How Old?

I have a similar box (11 drawer) put out on heavy trash day, even had the keys in it and a few scrappers and files! Consensus on the forum was that it is MBC (Based on handle shape)

    LITTLESTOWN 112 VISE PARTS ANYONE?

Looking for the Jaw hardware (pads and screws) for a low-budget resto/return to working cond. project. Do any other 3.5 in. jaws have the same screw size/spacing? Also could use the swivel hardware (bolt and handle).

    ID of wood handle screwdivers

Bought a lot of wood handled screwdrivers on the 'bay because I wanted a longer #2, turns out that is the only one that isn't US made or old (red handle marked Made in China 6"), but there are a few others of interest. 1) a Phillips #2, black painted handle with a full tang marked Phillips...

Kennedy 520, L.I. NY local pickup

Don't have keys or front cover, did a partial clean-up restore and hit it with some Rustoleum Black Hammertone, but could use felt etc. does have a less than 1" X 1/4" rust out along bottom seam that doesn't effect utility/integrity. $50, pick up on L.I (Nassau South shore) [email protected]

Educate Me on Smallest Vintage Bench Vises

No, definitely built for bench mount

Does this Wilton bullet vise look kosher?

Kosher, not unless you cut the tip off the bullet

Educate Me on Smallest Vintage Bench Vises

These show up in clamp-on fairly often. Have a nifty quick release feature. This is the only 'built for bench mounting' version I've seen

    Let's show our wood (screwdrivers)

I also have an affection for 'woodies.' Based on geography and history, I tend to gravitate towards Ct-made tools (raised in Ct, where my grandfather ran a small-town hardware store). The pictures below show: Phillips #4: unk., #3: Stanley, #2: marked Lic. #1, Bridgeport(?), #1 Bridgeport...

The VINTAGE toolboxes of Garage Journal!

I have the same box. The consensus guess was MBC, sold under a slew of brands including Snap-on and Cornwell, prob. about 1970s. My biggest issue if inability to release the drawer slides. The hacksaw blade trick doesn't seem to work. Have you had any luck?

    The VISES of Garage Journal

Nice, I also was able to pick up a grand 3" (ebay, but local) but mine is bench mount only. It was missing the lower guide rod and spring and, as pic shows, was in that state of not enough paint to preserve. I had the right size steel rod, so that was easy and a blue rattle-can, only thing...

    The VISES of Garage Journal

Mostly doing woodworking and home repairs so needed a simple machinist vise (have a Columbian bench vise and a leg vise from a Veritas screw for the woodworking) Went to HF and bought their cheap clamp-on, felt like a toy, so when the Grand below showed up locally on eBay for $20 I grabbed it...

Can anyone ID the make/model of this 11 drawer box

Concensus seems to be a 1970s vintage MBC box. Put some elbow grease (and a lot of rust remover) into this street find and it's shaping up. improvised for a handle and added a magnetic strip.

Can anyone ID the make/model of this 11 drawer box

Thanks, I suppose it doesn't really matter. Even fully stripped, couldn't find a number, but it is an impressive amount of additional space. Decided to keep the Kennedy for measurement instruments (tapes, calipers, etc)
