I bought two Irwin tap and die sets. One SAE and one Metric. First usage the tap holder broke with very little force applied. I got the tap holder out of the other set and the exact same thing happened.
Who makes a really high quality tap holder? Also, is there an item that functions...
Give me your favorites for rust prevention! Unfortunately I didn't assemble the landcruisers I restore nor did I have access to them before importing them once they hit the 25 year import law age so I deal with a lot of stuff after the fact.
This would be an awesome thread. Post chemicals, solvents, stain removers, thread lockers, torque paint whatever you have found to be super useful in the shop that maybe some of us here don't know about. Share that knowledge!
I will go first.
Item #1 Naval Jelly. I love this stuff for...
I should give some additional details. Even if I didn't have heat I wouldn't want a two post. I do work on heavy equipment in my shop and a permanent lift would be in the way and a no go for that reason as well.
A four post can be moved to my storage shop and I can park a vehicle on it when...
My shop has in floor radiant heat. This means I can't bolt a 2 Post lift to the floor. I am obligated to purchase a 4 post. Some people say the 4 post is only good for maintenance and storage. Other people say with bridge jacks I am fine.
I am about to undertake a frame off restoration of a...
I am going to purchase a finger brake for my shop. I have a budget that would allow me to spend 7K if needed on this. I was looking at the Tennsmith 48" Box and Pan brake that allows 6" box depths. It is over $6K plus shipping...
I saw that Roper Whitney model but it looks like it isn’t able to bend as thick of metal. Of course it could be that one company is being optimistic on the rating and one is being conservative.
I want a Baleigh Mag Break. It looks like this is the best quality mag brake available. Correct me if I am wrong and should be looking at something else.
What is the best place to purchase one and does anyone know if there is a discount or something like that for being a GJ member.
Thanks...
I guess now if I am working on something and my snap on four-way wrenched aren't cutting it I can reach over and pull out a ************* wrench to finish the job
Holy ****! Okay, want to hear something stupid I just did? It was about 11:00 at night in Mexico and I was drinking Tequila and looking at Bonney wrenches. I found these and assumed they were Bonney without looking closely (drunk) and I bought them. I posted the link again without reading...
I bought them off eBay. Here is the listing. I figured that $135 for 29 wrenches it was pretty good. It comes out to less than five dollars per wrench

Here's a question then. I need flare wrenches and a lot of people recomend getting the snapon flare wrenches. I can get a set of Bonney for WAY less. Would the Bonney set be equal to the snapon?
Snap on makes the 4 way wrenches with the ends set at 30 and 60 degrees. Bonney made wrenches with the ends set at 15 and 45 degrees. In both cases the ends are 30 degrees different from each. In usage would they accomplish the same thing given the same offset from the opposing end?
