I have a 16 x 8 insulated door with tracks that follow the pitch of the ceiling, just like yours. I have a liftmaster 3800 (the predecessor to the 8500).
It works like a charm, I wouldn't change it for anything.
The only thing I see is that The torsion spring looks close to the ceiling. You...
MIP and NPT are the same thing. Maybe the bung was welded up side down? NPT threads are tapered so if the bung is reversed this could explain your problem.
Bonjour de Québec!
I'm in Quebec City too, it's not often that I see pics on here that I recognize the background! In what part of the city are you? I'm in the west part of Ste-Foy, near Cap-Rouge.
I love the air cooled VWs. I have a 74 curved window super beetle. Not on the road for the...
How thick is that slab? Looks like 8-10in. The lift won't move that's for sure!
Love every bit of that project. That's the kind of place I would like to live in if I was to live in a big city.
I'm about 2 inches short of 12' on ceiling height so most "clear floor" lifts with overhead cables won't fit. And I already have this lift, it's installed and works well. I'm not changing it anytime soon.
I'll check with Rotary but I'm afraid they won't approve this...
I have an older Rotary SP84 2 post lift. Got it for free (inherited form dad). As it was getting rusty on the bases I sandblasted and repainted it all and installed it in my shop. Works great for my home shop just like it did back at my father's place.
I've always found that the floor plate was...
I'm also wishing my dad was still with us. Most of what I know in all kinds of manual work, construction, mechanics, etc and my interest for everything mechanical I owe it to him. I remember that I found it weird when I was 6-7 years old that my friends had no idea what a piston or a crankshaft...
I purchased a 30A 2 pole fused Eaton disconnect switch. I will install it outside of the enclosure just beside the light switches.
I'm planning on installing a bathroom fan to have air circulation in the enclosure. It will run of the compressor switch so anytime the compressor starts the fan...
That's what I was thinking!!! Yes it's in my personal shop. I keep air pressure on at all time but like to cut power to the compressor when I leave so that in case a hose or line would burst when i'm not there the compressor wouldn't run all day...
Thanks all for your inputs!
Dan
This is my plan, outside the enclosure so I don't have to open the door each time. I was just wondering if it was legal to have a disconnect in a room controlling a machine in "another" room, if you can call a 50 x 50in closet a room.
Thanks!
Dan
I built a closet in a corner of the garage for the compressor (5HP 60Gal) to isolate the noise. Is there a rule to follow as to where to put the disconnect, in the closet or outside the closet? There is no switch on the compressor, it is made to be hard wired and I want to use a fused 30A 240V...
Here in Canada I think we have less access to some electrical parts, they want us to have to pay an electrician. Everything is much more expensive too, we pay 2 times as much for a breaker than you do at Home Depot... Go to http://www.homedepot.com and try no to have an heart attack!
