Compression - Show Off Your Compressor

Probably too late for these, but anywhere copper pipe touches unistrut fittings you should at least wrap it with pieces of innertube to prevent dissimilar metal (aka galvanic) corrosion, which will eat holes in those pipes. Companies actually make specific inserts for this purpose e.g. see...

rebuild kit for Craftsman 43175 ratchet - I'm confused

Sorry to resurrect a years-old thread... but for what it's worth, the kit# for the 1/4'' quick-release 43175 ratchet is 43427. That kit also fits quick-release 1/4'' 43185 and 43186 ratchets. Why Craftsman re-used the 43175 part number (for a different tool at all, let alone a ratchet with a...

Painting Questions and Paint Matching Craftsman Tool Chest – Orange

Yes. That's exactly what menard's did. With the label, any shop that mixes rustoleum can reproduce that color without having to scan it again.

Painting Questions and Paint Matching Craftsman Tool Chest – Orange

I bought one of craftsman's quick-latch intermediate chests... they have the same handle trim as the craftsman harley boxes (instead of the grooved handles most craftsman boxes have). I would post a pic of the label on the can menard's mixed for me, but GJ only allows posting URLs to display...

    Power plant maintenance tech

There are lots of decaying hydro plants that've been bought by utilities and decommissioned to justify building nukes and NG generating stations. Promise to build a salmon ladder around the dam and you can likely pick one up for a song.

Best lube for toolbox drawer slides

I've never had white lithium dry and become sticky; my beef with white lithium is it has no anti-corrosion qualities. Wipe it off the slides 5 years later and you'll find they've rusted while covered by it.

Show us your compressor plumbing and manifolds

Good stuff, but they've redone their website... here's a new link to table 5: http://www.copper.org/applications/plumbing/cth/technical-data/tables/cth_table5.html Note well that the pressures shown in table 5 are 4 to 5 times that allowed by ASME B31. e.g. for 1-inch "L" copper (that's usually...

    Cool Work Bench

The link is in 3 or 4 posts in this thread, but here it is again: http://prism2.mem.drexel.edu/~paul/handyman/wallHangingWorkBench.pdf Looks like a 3rd-person scan directly from the article... the original authors would have probably tore the magazine apart to get a cleaner scan of it. BTW, if...

Does an SDS-Plus ground rod driver exist?

2+ years later and I still find no commercially available SDS+ ground rod driver. I was going to weld some impact sockets (5/8'', 9/16'', 3/4'') to cut off SDS+ shanks, but that hose trick looks much easier. I only wonder why the clamp isn't on the cut-off shank instead of on the ground rod?
