    One-of-a-kind pole barn's done

Thank you for the compliment, but I had to chuckle. Those "high end" garage doors were home made from materials I got at Home Depot and cost me around $200 per pair!

    One-of-a-kind pole barn's done

All I did for the woodshop was rip some 3/4 plywood into 2' x 8' pieces and glued and nailed them along the long edge to some 2x4's. That gave me 2' x 8' deck segments that I just lay over the lift deck. I added some 1x2 cross cleats underneath to keep everything aligned laterally. My table saw...

    One-of-a-kind pole barn's done

In the barn I just do the "clean" stuff like waxing and detailing. Mechanical repairs and other "dirty" jobs take place in the attached garage. Here's a shot taken when I was re-installing the drive train in my Mangusta after freshening the engine. As you can see, things were rather cozy there...

    One-of-a-kind pole barn's done

Yes, my attached garage has two lifts the cars used to be stored on and all my tools. All the dirty work, welding and grinding gets done there, with no more worry about mess. I kept one of the lifts for servicing the cars and built a woodworking shop on the other lift. That way when I'm done...

I finally got around to taking some shots of the finished pole barn.

    "Clean polebarn" update

Hah!! You're right, of course. There won't be any dirty work going on in the barn. The cars used to live on two lifts in my attached garage, and that's where the tools and stuff are. I'm keeping one lift to use for mechanical work, and the other now has a platform with my woodworking tools set...

    "Clean polebarn" update

The barn is nearly done. Here is a shot taken from the library area showing how the doors worked out. Once I get the library area done I'll shoot the whole thing inside and out.

Thanks Homebody. I'm Northern, as in mucho snow and frosty temps. And yes, I often race at Blackhawk.

    progress on my "clean" polebarn

I'm in the home stretch on my car barn project. A few more doors to build, some trim and paintwork, and it will be ready to hang my stuff on the walls. Should be done by Spring with no strain. By the way, the radiant floor has been superb through the subzero weather. The boiler rarely runs and I...

    Modern Lines

I think you left a similar comment over in the Gallery thread. You may have missed my response: Well, security was a consideration. The barns gets its own zone of our existing security system for fire and intrusion. As for the windows, our house has windows like those all over the place. The...

    Modern Lines

Thanks for the kind words everyone. I spent the rainy weekend finishing the doors, so I'm getting closer. I'll probably install the track lighting next while I wait for the concrete guy to get around to finishing my slab. I'll try to get some pics together, but I seem to have an awfull time just...

    My "Clean" garage

A number of people asked for some shots of how the building went together, so I have added some progress shots to the web page.

    My "Clean" garage

My door openings are 7' x 9', so yours would be even easier. The Rotons are available from any good contract hardware source. The exterior treatment is just cheap cedar fence boards from Home Depot cut to size and applied to the plywood. (Of course I had to cull through all the boards at 4...

    My "Clean" garage

The carriage doors were a "must" for me. I only take these cars out on nice days, so weather is no issue. Also, I won't start the cars in the barn (old italian cars = smokey exhaust). I always roll them outside first, then go through the starting ritual. That way if they decide to set themselves...
