my opinion is that the blue painters tape is more likely to seep paint and not give as crisp a line. look for the light green painter tape (sold at HD and Loews) give a cleaner line and still pulss up without damaging the base color

I saw this done on "Ask this old house" they used rubber grommets to isolate the motor from the hanger and it cut out about 75% of the noise and vibration. I am thinking of doing the same thing to mine. Good luck
