In flourescent lighting,figure the "T' as eighths of an inch. It used to be T12(40 watt) which was 1-1/2"diameter. They went to T8 for the energy savers(34 watts for the same lumens) it is 1" diameter. The T5 is 5/8" diameter but I don't know if you get a further savings on your watts.
