    40 x 64 Workshop in Wisconsin

BTW... since I am highly recommending Northland Buildings here. I should add one caveat. We had multiple significant difficulties with the first salesperson they connected me with. Once he was out of the picture and I was dealing with Craig Tobias (salesman), Mike Vold (manager), and the...

Hi Ben, Northland charged me $44,091 including steal ceiling and ceiling insulation. Good luck on your build. Dave

Hi Ishiboo, Like I said before, I totally see your point. In hind sight, I kind of wish I would have gone with plywood. I think it would have cost somewhere around $1000 more than the OSB. At the time it was $1000 I didn't have.

Wisconsin 40x64 workshop needs HVAC suggestions

We are currently experiencing low temps of -10 to -24 degrees. That's not counting windchill. Will this eliminates mini-splits as an option? I do have very good insulation, and when it is that cold outside I'm ok if the inside doesn't go up as high as normal, as long as I can keep it in the...

That is the way I've been leaning. I do not plan to use the large door much in the winter. Do you have brand and model number suggestions? Location suggestions?

So the mini-splits or heat pumps run solely on electricity? No propane?

    40 x 64 Workshop in Wisconsin

Hi Bobbyu, Yep, my wife is the painter in the family and she has already reiterated what you are saying... avoid the cheap paint. She's told me we're going to take a sample to Sherwin Williams and do whatever they tell us. But she assumes we'll need a good oil primer and then a latex top...

Yeah, the 12 was necessary for the 20 amp circuits. 14 wouldn't have met code. I probably could have gotten away with 15 amp circuits on 14, but why chance it. With 2 20s on that wall I should have plenty of juice.

    Leveling ground for build

I've built four out-buildings on two different properties over the last 15 years and in EVERY CASE I was shocked at how much excavating was required once we put the level up and accounted for drainage issues.

    Leveling ground for build

I really think you should have a professional excavator look at your site, to give you some advice. You could peel off that extra ground, move the existing ground around, or you might need to bring in more fill to put on top. Determining the right approach is going to depend on a variety of...

    40 x 64 Workshop in Wisconsin

Thanks for the compliment, Drivesitfar. But if I had been an electrician in a previous life I would have used 2" surface boxes instead of the 1.5" boxes. It was tougher than I expected to get the outlets and the 12 gauge solid wire into those 1.5" boxes. Dave

    40 x 64 Workshop in Wisconsin

Hi CNGsaves. We live in a very rural area so we don't have access to natural gas, but I am planning to get a big LP tank. As of now I'm assuming something like a mini-split (or two) in the clean area, and something like a Modine PDP250...
