    Attached Shop Considerations

Set up some stakes in your backyard where everything is supposed to sit and drive your truck back there to jockey around the stakes. Might give you an idea of degree of pita.

    Sparky labor rate

What are some example rates for a helper, or for bucket truck work? I do some bucket truck handyman stuff for a friend and never know what value i'm saving him. What about backhoe/trenching rates?

Solar panels for you house/ shop

My impression is that certain components are required before enphase allows you to commission the units and only after the installer is certified by enphase. ie control box unless you are talking about 3 generations older stuff

Metal Building on piers.... what to do with the base angle?

Cool, what foundation specs did you end up with specifically? might help the next guy...

Solar panels for you house/ shop

yes there was the assumption of being grandfathered... Colorado seems volatile these days Capn crash, do you have any aesthetic concerns? If one of the panels fails during your warranty, the likelyhood of getting the exact same panel years later is dubious. There is no standard panel size...

    Engineering specification

Definitely interesting. The website i linked has Cee section "effective" properties and they list 6x2.5 14g with .723 Iy in one direction and .61 the other direction. Also is 55k steel, i think

Building my dream turns into a nightmare – A QUICKEN STEEL Structure

I have a small project that requires a permit with stamps so this might be a good way to go, especially if they engineer the foundation as well. I'm hoping piers are an option but I shall find out.

Building my dream turns into a nightmare – A QUICKEN STEEL Structure

Looks like my local metal place is tied into ACT with its designer available if you drill into the website deep enough https://www.mcelroymetal.com/substructural-components

whole house surge protector on a 60 amp breaker vs 50 amp?

The generator has a 45A breaker. There is a "emergency load" panel that is in between the generator and the main panel. I think the 50A breaker in the main panel is protecting the wires to the emergency panel when it's fed by the grid. Until we can get the correct 50A breaker for the surge...

whole house surge protector on a 60 amp breaker vs 50 amp?

Interestingly there is a big soot stain on the outside of the enclosure. There are the remnants of small wires scabbed into the main breaker lugs. I think there was a surge protector wired into the line side previously. Maybe this illustrates both sides of the coin. You don't want the SP...

whole house surge protector on a 60 amp breaker vs 50 amp?

Yes i was wondering if bigger was actually better but I don't know how they actually work. The wires look like 14g stranded. The generator feed comes from an automatic transfer switch

whole house surge protector on a 60 amp breaker vs 50 amp?

Inside the main panel we have: Stand by generator backfeeding main panel through a 50 amp breaker. Unused 60 amp breaker in main panel from a long-gone hot tub. Eaton ultra surge protector wired into a 50 amp breaker. The generator breaker failed so I swapped parts around and now the surge...

20'x70'x13' Unused Steel Tube RV Carport - Enclose or sell?

Unless you have an RV, that thing is incongruent with your nice place. Add lean-to to both sides and make it a monitor barn profile. Or barter/trade it away. How much is 50% of new? If you can take it down yourself, 75% of new might be in the cards?

    Solar

I'm knee deep in learning about this stuff now. rabbit hole I'm guessing you have an older generation of enphase microinverters? You mention a monitor module connected to the internet? The current stuff requires additional proprietary components in addition to the microinverters. Then you...
