    Thanks mate! Shortage of thrift stores here about. However the scrap bins at work are full to overflowing. So a couple of dinner breaks and hey presto a custom set of tongs at zero cost.(y)

    They are about a foot long. I fancy they would be a bit flimsy for hauling logs about. I made these for my open coal fire. They are just the job for arranging the coals. They would be good for turning large steaks on the grill...........I might make another set for just that.......Cheers(y)

    Hello mate.Its what you call tar paper we call it roofing felt. Its over osb . The battens on the top are to help[ hold the felt down. Can get mighty windy here abouts. Only 2 miles from the north sea coast.

    This is my workshop in the garden I have recently reroofed it after some bad storms last year. The lean to in the foreground is my blacksmiths shop. I have a coke forge leg ice and anvil doubles up as a mean barbecue in summer too

    New member from North East England. Been a metalworker 40 years. Like to think i can turn my hand to most things that need doing. I have a large workshop at home pretty well equipped mostly old British machinery bought for a song over the years and fixed up. Nice to be amomgst like minded...
