Opinions on "foil bubble insulation" install method

Marc, I am exploring this option and trying to get my price comparisons together. So you're saying ONLY the 3" batt PERF rolls, no vapor or radiant barrier?? If so, that would change things significantly price wise. I have read a ton between here, google, tractornet, green(something)...

Opinions on "foil bubble insulation" install method

Thanks, That is exactly the type I want to put in, love the white inside face... but my estimates were quite a bit higher. My roof is 57'Wx39'D with a 6/12 pitch.... so I guess I need to decide if I should rethink my budget. I did have $2000 budgeted for a 2 post lift like yours.... damn I hate...

Opinions on "foil bubble insulation" install method

OK, let me try to answer all of these... I realize the bubble stuff is poor insulation at best, but again, I'm not trying to insulate right now. I am on a budget, I'm building this myself out of pocket, If I were financing or paying a contractor it may be different. My thoughts are, If I can get...

Opinions on "foil bubble insulation" install method

I would like some opinions from you guys on something I've been kicking around. I'm at the point where I'm about order and install my vapor/radiant/insulation barrier over my pole barn purlins for my roof. I describe it that way because that's what the manufacturer calls it, I realize that's a...

    radiant barrier?

Ok, maybe I'm confused, or not being specific enough, so Ill try to give more detail. Yes there will be a moisture barrier under my slab, buts that's a separate issue and already settled through my concrete guy. When I say "vapor barrier" I'm referring to the moisture barrier -roof and walls...

    radiant barrier?

Sorry if the question was a bit hazy, I was at work when I typed it. I plan to use on roof and walls of my pole barn shop. My primary goal is a vapor barrier to control condensation since this is a garage, not really trying to insulate a lot- just because of cost. My understanding is that the...

    6x6 Post curled....

Thanks for the replies, I'll try to answer everything: I don't have pics, but it just basically started leaning inward about 8' or so up, which ends up about 4-6" (by eyeball) up at the 13' mark. I'd have to spread the 2 posts to fit the steel truss between. As far as flipping it... If I dig it...

    6x6 Post curled....

Before I could get my trusses set and everything tied together, one of my posts warped on me. Curled in at the top about 6" towards the truss. I have a spare I could swap it with before I set the trusses Monday, just wondering if you guys with experience think its worth the trouble? I'm sure I...

Im ready to purchase my radiant/vapor barrier for my shop: -55Wx34Dx13H (I know, odd size...) -Not climate controlled -Fans in summer, kerosene or wood stove heat in winter-part time only! -probably not dry walled -open rafter, steel truss building -metal siding and roof -In South Carolina...
