Anyone heard of an American scale co no 322 before? I’m trying to figure out how wide the jaws are on it. The seller said in the description it’s 600 pounds with the base (the bottom is 3inch plate steel) I checked the vintage vises website but they didn’t have it listed
Picked up this Prentiss No 12 Coachmaker’s vise with a swivel jaw this morning
I paid $80 for it which I’m not sure if that was too much but when I saw it I had to have it. The rear swivel jaw already moves with a little force by hand and I can’t see any cracks or much damage just some around...
Thank you shiftless I actually got home from picking it up a little while after you left that message. He ended up taking 275 for it. It seems to be in pretty solid shape just a little rusty. Nothings broken and the pipe jaws are still there. Also I’m not sure if the seller new it was a Wilton...
Update on the hollands 46
I was having trouble getting it to stay in place while I was beating on it. Decided to take it to work and hold it down with the forklift.
Got it unstuck with the mix of acetone and atf you guys suggested and a lot of hammering
Got this poor beaten up stanley Bailey no 4 with a corrugated bottom. They must have lost the lever cap at some point and replaced it with a chunk of steel. Either way I can use it for parts. Only paid 5 bucks for it
Sounds good to me!
I recently painted a prentiss 22. Unfortunately at some point in its life they broke the swivel jaw and brazed it back in place so now it’s only a stationary jaw. Every think else on it is in great shape though. The slide isn’t split the threads are in great shape nothing else...
Yours looks great!
Is that an original hollands color or did you pick one you liked? I’m not sure if I want to leave it raw cast iron or paint it. I’ve heard some people say it’s better to leave larger buses unpainted.
