    LM 8500 movement while operating

I have two LM8500 openers that I used to replace some Genie screw-drive openers when I put my lift in. The rod the spring and pulleys are mounted to will always try to move left-right because of the spring issue mentioned. But if you have the bearing plates mounted properly and the pulleys...

Finally LIFT! My 4 post install in my standard garage!

Oh, forgot to mention, yeah the nylock on the hydraulic cylinder piston to cable retaining plates was a big PITA to get right. I don't remember specifics, but I got it engaged enough that I am certain it isn't coming apart on it's own. When I pull the Camaro out of the garage in the next few...

Finally LIFT! My 4 post install in my standard garage!

I didn't use shims on mine. My garage has a decent slope, basically almost 3/4"+ per 10ft. I just used the ladder locks to "level" the runways front to back. After all adjustments it goes up and down level and all the locks "click" at the same time when going up. I did the math and even at...

Finally LIFT! My 4 post install in my standard garage!

Oh, also, be sure to have it sitting EXACTLY where you want it. Moving it around, even 10-15 inches is enough to require a complete readjustment... Again, I had it in one bay of the garage and decided to move it to the other, readjusted for that, then decided to move it forward a bit more, yet...

Finally LIFT! My 4 post install in my standard garage!

Sorry I forgot to mention, but, yeah a car on it makes ALL the difference in adjusting it. Any adjustments to locks/cables without a car on it is are far from where they will be when you have a car on it and adjust it for use. I did the same things and got everything perfect, just to find it...

Finally LIFT! My 4 post install in my standard garage!

Are you sure on the one that keeps engaging that you have the correct amount of tension on that cable? If it is an issue, look underneath and make sure you have the cables actually on the sheaves. I have released too much tension on the cables one time and ended up having the cable pop off the...

Finally LIFT! My 4 post install in my standard garage!

Same lift I bought last year. Great lift, love the ladder locks, complete adjustability. I have both a 1995 T/A and a 1995 Z28 Convertible. Ended up going with new jackshaft openers for both doors and I was able to just loosen the rails and move the bolting location up 7 inches to gain all...

Mounting a dual hose reel... OK to bolt to only a single floor joist?

No, these are not manufactured joists. Also, I had an idea of how I wanted to go, but decided before I actually went that route I would get some input. In regards to "form follows function" I do COMPLETELY agree, in that with my sports cars I always made decisions on function first and then I...

Mounting a dual hose reel... OK to bolt to only a single floor joist?

Thanks for the replies. If I could span two or more studs without it looking like hell, I would. I will just use the single joist and be done with it. And they are treated, that is why I will use the structural fasteners that are rated for it.

Mounting a dual hose reel... OK to bolt to only a single floor joist?

Hey guys, I am almost done with the garage for this year and one of the last things I want to do is mount the dual Klutch hose reel I got in a few weeks ago. Now the garage is below the master suite, it has an extra deep well, which has a metal support beam running across it as support. The...

My car had a header stud missing. After further inspection, I saw that it's broken in halfway

Sorry for the really late reply, got busy with stuff with the kids... But, yes that is the slip fit. The issue you have with yours is they put the u-bolt clamp in the wrong spot. It is supposed to be up where the split is, not below it on good solid pipe. What I would do is remove that pipe...

Why 30A tandems with every load center kit?

Oh, in regards to monitoring the dryer, I know I have a 120v kill-a-watt meter... I just can't stomach the cost to pony up for a 240v unit. The main washer/dryer setup in the mudroom are huge Kenmore Elite units, basically the largest they ever made for residential use. The ones I put in the...

Why 30A tandems with every load center kit?

Yeah, I would love to be able to put a flue for the range in, but the issue is the way they built this house. The house is on a lot that faces east, the front door faces east as well as the garage doors. The house is built, for the most part, on a large rectangular foundation with the support...

Why 30A tandems with every load center kit?

When I was shopping for a home about 5 years ago we saw a lot of places with 100a service. A few had 150a and a few had 200a. There was this one place that had dual industrial power running to it. I am talking a dedicated transformer, huge dual industrial service panels (over 2k amps per, and...

Lighting Install Question - Gang Boxes?

Well, I typed up this whole huge post about my setup since it is similar, but in this thread I will cut to the chase... I did a very similar setup, added in lights to a fully finished garage (mine is 1/2" textured plaster over 3/4" drywall, moisture barrier, full insulation on all walls and...
