I have the welded version of that Husky. I think it is fine for home garage use. The metal used is rather thin and would dent easily if bumped into often. If you put substantial weight on the top, the top will bow in.
It would not stand up to regular use in a shop, but again, for home use...
I was going to make a thread about this but I see it has already been addressed.
I wish this was fixed. It would making following along with garage builds much easier.
My family immigrated from the Ukraine over a number of decades. The older uncles who grew up in the Soviet era were remarkably good at fixing things with spare stuff lying around, since they were used to doing without. It looks like that skill still remains over in that region.
This is a before and after of a 1994 Wilton 1760, which I purchased from work. I replaced all the jaws and the rotating base hardware. And cleaned and painted it, obviously. Now I can start making it look like when I bought it, again.
