3/4 HP which should be about 560W. At 120V it should only draw 4.7A but since the cord is getting quite warm I'm still going to step it up. Like you said, it cant hurt.

I bought a chain hoist and was able to get the press onto a dolly and up to the house. It runs fine up there. I then noticed that for some reason when I replaced the power cord I only used 16AWG wire. I'm not sure what possessed me to do that. I think I'll step it up to at least 12AWG and see...

Hi Frank, thanks for the suggestions. I thought the same things but the chuck spins freely so I doubt it's mechanical loading. I was really hoping to avoid moving it. Those things are damn heavy! I was really hoping you'd say "yeah, I've seen that a hundred times!" Oh well, maybe I'll just get...

Hi all, I restored my King Seely a couple years back and I love it. It was working fine when I was in Maryland however since the movers moved me to Texas I'm having a problem. When I turn on the 3/4 HP motor it runs for about 30 seconds and then blows the thermal breaker on the motor. It might...

I took it back apart and examined the quill splines with magnification and my fingers and filed off even the slightest imperfections. I did the same with the inside of the pulley splines under a stereo microscope with needle files. I cleaned everything up real good and found the best fit...

They are all in place. I have to admit I had some trouble getting the splines to match. Slight tapping with a brass hammer caused the interference points to gouge the spline surfaces inside the pulley which I then filed off with needle files until it fit. I'm still not sure how this happened as...

I'm having a problem reassembling my "80". I installed the quill first as directed by another post so the splined shaft would guide the pulley bearings straight into their seats. I tapped the pulley with it's two bearings and spacer down the shaft until it seated against the C clip. I thought...

I have my motor completed. I thought you might like to see it. I followed the paint scheme that I saw on one of FrankLee's units.

Frank, The column is 2' 11 3/4" with a diameter of 2.23" on both ends. The motor runs fine but is full of sawdust and makes some strange ticking noise when rotating by hand. It sounds like a peeled paper edge rubbing the armature. On a side note, I'm an *** and dropped one of the bearing cover...

I'm in California, MD. The unit was in a shed right by the water which probably accounts for the "patina" lol. I have a motor mount stamped 18921-103 with the extra rib on the way from ebay for $17 that should fit. The posts are the correct size and spacing anyway. Id be willing to trade the...

    Craftsman Drill Press

After a week of bugging them they finally got back to me. Some kid went to look at it for $100 (they raised the price from $20) and he told them it was junk. They gave it to me Just to get rid of it. I gave them $20 anyway which is what it was originally on CL for. I think a complete teardown...
