Extra vote for the reassembly of things..I use mine for valve covers and oil pans and anything that uses gaskets or O-rings. I can feel the torque and tension so I don’t rip the sealing and return to the leak.

is there a Makerspace or equivalent in your area? There are a bunch, by different names maybe, in the US. Join up if possible. Some have forges and tooling and people around ready to assist.

Soak the ferrous parts in Metal Rescue and rinse with water. This and similar products lie Evapo Rust do an amazing job without eating into the parent metal like muriatic acid. Sharpen the blade and reassemble.

If it’s not too late see about easy grind wire. Esab has a line of it. That way you won’t warp when your grinding them smooth when you did such a good job of avoiding it while welding.
