I think it really depends on where you end up going. I would say 80-90% of what I use is SAE. But I also work on heavy duty over the road equipment. I wouldn't invest in Snap-on SAE tools if your not sure they are going to get used. I would look at gearwrench or even SK.
The arms have teeth on them that ratchet with the body so they stay in place instead of flopping around like a conventional jaw puller. They are also quick disconnect so you can change them for a different configuration fast and easy.
The set I got with the 2 ton and 5 ton puller is #3627...
My Gearwrench ratcheting puller set came in today
It feels like a quality set and made in Taiwan not China. It was one of the only sets I could find that fit my needs and was still in my price range.
I like it. I think it protects the box well. Excellent quality and fit. IIRC it's all vinyl other than the edges where it touches the box. It's has soft corner liners. I'd have to double check at work though. And I actually never take it off. I just unzip the front flap and fold it over the top...
It's a KTL7023. It's brand new for this year. It debuted at SFC2015 in August and I ordered it then. They are just now getting shipped out within the last month or so.
I do it this way as well. Only I put the rollers in first before I hook the springs. I actually put the rollers in on the ground then hang the shoes and put the little springs on.
I have sockets in the top, wrenches in the middle and then pliers and drivers in the bottom wide drawer. I'm still not to sure if I like the pliers/drivers there but it will do for now.
My favorite ratchet is an old 32 tooth snap on long handled 3/8 flex head. It just feels solid to me. It gets used way more than anything else in my box.
My blue point wrench set arrived today
These are one of my favorite wrenches I have held. The feel great in my hand. Good sized thicker beams and I like the satin finish. Better then their snap on counter part I think. They will go to work tomorrow and quickly get put to use.
