    Motor popping breaker

Open the pecker head and check the wiring for obvious defects such as a bare wire, loose connection, or a burnt spot. Next you can unwire it and check the leads to ground. It should show infinite ohms from any lead to the case. You may be able to inspect the centrifugal switch as well.

A/C and Heat 4 car garage

It works very well. I have the Hyper Heat model. It's supposed to be more efficient at lower ambient temps. Even with the cold winter we had this past winter, it was great in my garage.

A/C and Heat 4 car garage

Mini-split heat pump. Hands down the best tool in my garage. I have a 1 ton Mitsubishi that I installed myself. You can buy them online from several vendors.

Baldor motor with a brake ?? industrial is printed on them

Wheelchair lifts, home elevators, and dumb waiters use this style of motor.

Part Time A/C and Heat in the garage?

I'd look into a mini-split heat pump. They're crazy efficient, very quiet, and not as terribly expensive as you might think. I bought a 1 ton Mitsubishi hyper heating model with everything I needed except for a breaker and feeder wire to the outside disconnect delivered to my door for $1600...

I'm thinking about one of those portable air conditioners

I love my mini-split. It wasn't terribly expensive, super quiet, and damn cheap to run.

    Home built rotary phase converter

Didn't think of the slip. It's probably running at mathematically 1/2 (or some other fraction) hence why it won't accelerate. I'll try spinning it faster prior to energizing it.

    Home built rotary phase converter

That's strange. I have other little 3 phase motors that once spun even just a little bit in one direction, they take right off and spin up to full speed. Yes. It is a 200v motor. It was in a plant as a fuel pump running on 208. It's an old motor.

    Home built rotary phase converter

I've got a 5hp 3 phase 200v motor that I recently acquired. The windings look good and read 1 ohm between each leg, nothing to the case. I replaced the bearing and the rotor spins freely. I plan on using it for making 3 phase power in my shop. I hooked two legs to 120v each out of a welding...

Wire this 3 phase motor with 2 phase?

If you have a spare 3 phase motor, you can create 3 phase from single phase. It's fairly simple. In a nutshell, wire your single phase hot legs to L1 to T1 and L2 to T2. (L being incoming hot leg, T being motor terminal) connect your outgoing 3 phase to T1, T2, and T3. You'll need a way to start...

work flash light, what's everyone using?

Yup. Exactly. Had one for a few years. Excellent flashlight. Sent from my phone from the "office"

    Used Drain Oil

Not a good idea my friend. The dirt and **** in the used oil can and will cause damage to your diesel's fuel injection system. The tolerances within the fuel system make the bottom end of an engine downright roomy. So if the oil is bad enough to need changing, ask yourself is it worth using it...

    Hello from Joelton TN

I was able to post some pics in another thread. So here are a few pics of the JD 60 I tried to post earlier. Sent from my phone from the "office"

I just joined the hobbiest lathe crew!

No, unfortunately not on this model. It took us a few hours to level that lathe due to the floor. It slopes at least a 1/2" downhill to the right. But at least the bed is straight and level. That's all that counts. I'm still amazed at the great deal you got.

I just joined the hobbiest lathe crew!

These Atlas lathes are pretty good ol' machines. I cut a transmission countershaft from a John Deere model 620 to fit an earlier model 60 I'm restoring. My friend has this same lathe. Works pretty well, but I'd like to acquire a machine with a bigger swing capacity and power crossfeed along with...
