Unfortunately I can't see my SUV from where I sleep or sit, but there are a few in this complex that do not take kindly to thieves. After a rash of catalytic converter thefts before I moved in, the local PD started cracking down and other residents made it very clear that our property is valued...
Luckily for me, my Disco is high enough to not require a jack for most work.
I have to change the rear struts tomorrow on my girlfriend's Rabbit. I will probably need to find the keys to the bicycle lock.
I have absolutely zero tolerance for thieves, and I don't live in the nicest part of town. There's a reason I installed a cheap basic aftermarket stereo in my truck, and it's because thieves will (hopefully!) see it as not worth the effort.
I've only worked on my truck once since moving here, but my system is as follows:
1. Make a checklist of all tools, fluids, rags that you need.
2. Carry them out to the truck, realizing that you forgot a bottle of water.
3. Lock everything in the truck so it's not stolen while you run back and...
