    Between 485 & 705 SQ/FT Comfortable one-car workshop build

Now for the update from this weekend. As mentioned in my last few posts, I took down the compressor and electrical panel to prepare the left side wall to be finished: R20 insulation installed: My sister visited for the weekend we did some work. Put up vapor barrier, and here she is...

Heat for sure. I'll probably use an electric shop heater on a thermostat for the foreseeable future, keep it around 8 to 10C and bump it up if I'm going to be in there for any amount of time. House is on electric heat anyway and upfront costs are probably the least out of any options. Heat pumps...

Hey, thanks for stopping by Dennis! I've been meaning to update this thread for... ummm... better part of two years now :o The compressor was assembled with a new (to me) tank and I fabricated a frame to mount it all to the wall. I mounted it way up on the wall to not take any floor space. This...

I appreciate the info! Interesting that you linked to Toyota's TSB as I picked up a '19 Tacoma based on Toyota's reputation for reliability and have been soaking it in fluid film to hopefully avoid the frame issues they've been suffering. There is a boxed section of frame that was very heavily...

Hey Dennis, your automotive posts are always interesting! I too put a lot of effort into thoroughly undercoating/rustproofing vehicles. Your methods of accessing different areas of the car are excellent. I've never heard of the products you're using but I'm going to look them up. Around here...

Yesterday and today I was doing a brake service to the station wagon... cleaned and lubed calipers, drum hardware, replaced front flex hoses, vacuum then gravity bled the entire system. After replacing the drivers side flex hose, I decided to turn on the camera and share a tip for working on old...

Lots has happened since the last update. Recently finished putting up the ceiling and had to swap in a different compressor tank, I'll try to post up details of those events. Working on a milestone project here now. Installing adhesive anchors in concrete.

Garage of all Trades for a Master of None

Looks like a great space and you've got some interesting (in a good way) hobbies! I totally agree with treating it as a big one car shop. Sounds like you're going to need the room for tools and projects.

Thanks e-tek! I actually felt like I was in the civilized world again having compressed air in the shop :bounce: Your projects thread is at 123 pages! I don't have time to marathon that one right now but I'll see if I can browse the highlights.

I was hoping I could rent one a little bigger than the cheapo standard ones everybody has? Haven't verified that part of the plan yet.

    My 18x28 oversized single car

Looks like a great shop! I was just looking back through my own build thread and saw your comments, decided to check in how you were doing  I've cursed and swore so much at building over 12ft high walls but in the end will be sooo worth it. FYI, a 10' tall door with 16" radius track will...

Slowly getting there. With the excitement of having the electrical panel live, I had the motivation to finally get the compressor together and running. I may have posted waayyy back that it was a kijiji find (canadian craigslist kind of thing), my father bought it for me and then I discovered...

Anyone ever build so big things were too far away or other downside?

There are definitely folks on this forum that make incredible use of their small space. You mentioned larger spaces possibly "lacking charm"... I totally get that. When the walls are covered in tools and cabinets such that you don't even notice what color it is, I see a particular charm in that...

Milestone update  Today, August the whateverth, 2018, the comfortable one-car workshop has power! I actually had the cable run from house to garage since early last winter. Getting it into the house panel was a daunting task that I waayyy overthought but in the end came up with a good...
