    Very Upset With Harbor Freight....

Stats from 2012 in this state. Part Time work is a result of the ACA. What factory jobs, all we have left after the great wealth transfer to Asia started in the late 1990's, is old buildings or sites where buildings used to be. The Carrot and Stick, is a motivator, Hunger will make a person...

    Very Upset With Harbor Freight....

Welcome to the PC world, people are hired who are not able to do the work or changing the standards so they can be placed into these jobs. I remember when they started to hire people who couldn't lift their end of the ambulance gurney decades ago and had to call a LEO for back up, which seems...

Posted 08-10-2006, 04:42 PM In retrospect, not a bad idea.

    Shop Organization Essentials?

Also, Doors keep out mice and snakes. Organization is like another project and is one that goes on ignore fast, during the busy seasons, forgotten about when it's cold.

reduce heat on a 120v 100W heat element (bunn coffee pot warmer)

These do get to hot. I believe you could make sprayable coffee lacquer with those things.

Salt kills weeds better than Round-up (any downside???)

Baking Soda isn't working as well this late in the season.

Sears to be no longer end of year?

Our Home Depot clerks are so bad that, one of them asked me for advice and where they could find it in the store. (True) :D

I Just Cut The Cords Off My Power Tools.

Black & Decker made short corded tools back in the day. Didn't like them. I prefer longer cords for just plugging into the wall while working at the bench or from a power strip placed on the floor for running multiple power tools while working on a vehicle.

    Vintage Crescent Socket Set Upgrade

I would try and find a good welder, to tack weld it and restore it. I have the 20pc LT320 set (at least it looks like a 3 on the sticker on the box) used it a lot in the 60's & 70's, now and then ever since. The set is still complete and yes this ratchet is/always was finicky but never failed...

    which mower jack or...?

I find an ATV/motorcycle jack/jack stand works great with my machine, for lubing or removing blades. I find it to be safer and more stable than when I used a 3 1/2 floor jack with 1 1/2 ton jack stands.

Why do you think Craftsman ratchets fail so often?

 I believe this like giving everyone in the thread a new car, of the same year, same make/model, etc. Some will wear them out or break them in a couple of years, while others will make them last for decades. IMHO
