SK has a very small distributor network and poor name recognition. I think most importantly there is no niche/profession that really values it enough to give it a fandom like say Knipex? It's no Craftsman, you see. (I'm joking!)
Great Star got Lowe's to drop a bunch of the Irwin clamp line and...
Is there some advantage to this design of hacksaw or am I right in thinking it doesn't make a lot of sense. It has a threaded rod at the top and the frame is a pipe full of metal bits. I would guess those aren't supposed to be in there.
Probably something missing.
That Kobalt set was on clearance for $9.99 at one point and it has been worth it. I got them in my tool chest. I got an SK multibit in my portable and a Felo/Anex precision set in my electronics gear. All of em are good.
I did some experimenting with how well the screwdrivers felt and engaged Phillips screws and these were my results.
1. Vessel (megadora jawsfit)
2. (tie) Snap-on/Williams (black hard handle)
2. (tie) Blackhawk/Facom (protwist)
3. Klein (yellow acetate)
4. SK (green hard handle)
5. Stanley...
Montana brand is actually on store shelves in Menard's for what it is worth. Lowe's carried Cle-Line for a bit too. Never seen any other American drill bits on shelves though. It was hilarious seeing a $60 29-piece drill bit set in a home improvement center.
I think they still stock that...
Stores receive the items in phases which start out with flashlights, tape measures, box cutters, and walkie talkies and eventually roll out to mechanic's hand tools, yard tools, and power tools. The stuff that got taken out was mostly Stanley and Stanley FatMax. Then the Kobalt stuff gets...
The clearances are because those items were interim items and Stanley hasn't figured out how to get everything they want out on shelves yet. It's a gradual process.
A lot of stuff is very rushed looking and packaging is kind of a mess on some stuff. Give them some time on this. They're selling...
For some reason every Vulcan tool I have encountered has been damaged but not so for the Williams ones. I guess the end user does mean a lot.
I think I have a wrench with Williams markings on one and Vulcan on the other.
Cornwell is just slightly more common in my area than Vulcan. They just...
I waited a couple weeks after taking them out and cleaning them off to see what they smelled like.
Washing soda screwdriver
It initially smelled like laundry detergent and then went back to smelling bad.
Baking soda screwdriver
It didn't do anything at all for the smell.
Water screwdriver...
Okay, I started the experiment. Better late than never. The first post was updated. I know that the fact I didn't put a Snap-on screwdriver in lye is disappointing.
The smell of butyric acid, or that vomit-smell that old screwdriver handles have is actually used to vandalize things. Link
The handles are made of cellulose acetate butyrate and it doesn't matter if they're clear or not. I have solid-colored ones that smell the same.
That butyrate part of...
