    Figure 8 Wrench

I agree. These dog bone style wrenches are only good for oil changes. One wrench for any drain plug.

Neckties and table saws are ok in California

This goes along with my thought. Mandating that a certain percentage of saws be offered with a safety would be fine. Not all cars have side impact airbags, vibrating seats to warn you of stuff you can't see, or a camera that works with autobraking. But there are cars that have them, and if you...

Neckties and table saws are ok in California

I think the Saw Stop is a good idea. And if they want to mandate that a certain percentage of saws have them, then I am fine with that. Make it mandatory to "offer" a safer item for people who choose to buy it, but don't make it mandatory on all of them. And as for pointing out he has a tie on...

    Trailer lock embedded in concrete?

You won't be able to secure the trailer with a chain or a lock for a long period of time. If they want it bad enough. They will drive by a few times and figure out what they need to do. Best bet is put a boot on it. Like the ones cops use.

    Alternator Mount for a SBC

That's for an asphalt car with a 9" rearend. It's a Dirt Late Model, with a quick change. I am not a fan of putting it under the car. It will be full of mud in 2 laps, and it would make it hard to wash the car. And it would interfere with the J-Bar too. Plus mine was free :).

    Alternator Mount for a SBC

I was looking for an alternative on my racecar. Most people don't run an alternator on their cars. They bring a generator to the track and a battery charger and hook the charger up every chance they get. Well that just doesn't make much sense to me. There is plenty of data to be found on the...

    Piston dust seal?@#

If it's the same part I am thinking of, here is how I have done it in the past. Before you put the new one on, there might be some dirt and rust build up on the edge of the caliper. Scrape/clean that off with the side edge of a flat tip screwdriver. Use a little brake fluid on the outer edge...

    Auto Tech beginner advice!!!!

Here is something I started doing when I was younger and just starting out turning wrenches. Keep a notebook/notes on the jobs you do. Vehicle Type and color, maybe even a license plate number. The work you did on the car, how long it took you. Problems you had, things that went well. Problems...

    Affordable Lean-To?

Are those 2x6's on top? Whats the span between the 2x4's?

    Affordable Lean-To?

Nice job! That is exactly what I had in mind. Although my garage is a shingled roof and I wondered how I would make the connection from the steel to shingles. I didn't think a big piece of flashing would work.

    Affordable Lean-To?

I have a 16' Wide x 45' Long garage. It was originally built by the previous owner as a wood shop/gardening shop, it actually has French Doors on the back wall haha. I have cleared the land behind the shop, to the back fence line. An area the length of the shop (45') and 20' back to the fence...

Thoughts on how to get engineless cars up a sloped driveway into the garage

I don't think I would anchor to the wall. There are several guys that have put anchors in their floor, just for this. I am sure they have pictures and a more detailed way on how to do it.
