That’s right! Somehow I had that mixed up all these years. The 1940 Delta badges look so much like the Atlas badges I think that planted the seed. But, yup, I was totally wrong! Thanks!
Thanks very much!
I do have a 6” Delta jointer- check on the previous page. I wish I had space for a larger one, but even an 8” Delta wouldn’t be big enough. I really want a 16” jointer- but I definitely don’t have space for that! 😂
The one glaring Delta tool that IS missing is a Unisaw...
Thank you! Yes, those sanders are thin on the ground in my area. That’s why I was so bummed when I missed out on the first one! I admit, I did hesitate on this machine, but I’m really glad I got it. I hope to get those guards restored at some point.
My last machine acquisition is the Delta 6x48 Waterfall or Belt Sander.
I’ve only ever seen three of these for sale in my area. The first one was in 2010 and I went to get it with cash in hand, but someone else was there and they offered more money. Oh, well. Twelve years later I saw this one...
The 1968 Delta Overarm Router is my most modern Delta.
I saw this first listed on Craigslist while I was out of town. I tried to get the guy to hold it for me, but he wasn’t willing- which I totally understood. About three months later I saw the same machine come up for sale again from a...
Even though it’s not technically a Delta, the Atlas company was bought by Delta so I round my 1940 618 machine large up to a Delta. lol
I got this little lathe to turn very precise tapers in wood for my cello endpins. It works beautifully for that!
It also turns non-ferrous metals and steel...
My second bandsaw is the first 14”model that Delta ever made. They only made them between 1934-1936 and that was before they started applying serial numbers. What initially caught my eye was the “sun spokes” on the wheel covers.
This machine was a pile of rust when I got it, but it’s awfully...
The 12” Disc Sander dates to 1945. I haven’t done anything to it- I haven’t even replaced the motor bearings, but I suppose I will at some point.
The motor is a Master 1/2 HP Repulsion induction motor, which I believe is original. The stand has a neat badge from the company in San Francisco...
The 1942 Delta 17” Drill Press might be my favorite machine, but don’t tell the others. lol
When I got this drill press it was in bad shape cosmetically- a piece of rust and overpaint, but it was mechanically sound. It even had the wide production table! I stripped and painted every part...
The next tool that I found was my 1946 14” Bandsaw. This machine was used in a woodshop up near Everett that was closing. The guy wanted $250 for it! I called right away when I saw the ad, but I was second in line. I waited by the phone and, miraculously, the first guy never showed up. I was in...
The first old machine I bought was a 1962 6” Delta Jointer. I saw an ad on Craigslist and I drove about 2 hours to meet the guy at his shop. He loved old machines as well, and had a shop full of old tools that really “set the hook” in me for old machines. He had restored the jointer and it was...
Hi all! Hoorn found me on Instagram and thought I might enjoy this thread! Wow! I surely have and it’s lovely to see all the Delta eye candy and read the stories.
Hoorn also asked me to post about my machines, and he specifically asked that I make a separate post about each machine; so that’s...
