I have looked a lot and its probably NOT Columbian , wilton , craftsman or garrett .
Still looking cause i'm obsessive compulsive , like most of use who have a vice for vise .
Can anyone identify this wood vise . it took me 20 minutes to unscrew it from the metal bench it was on . The nuts were tucked behind some steel . They were just a bit siezed . I think the effort was worth it . It has a spot for a label which is long gone . I've had a lot of Vise before , but...
Judging by what has been written about it and where it was located , I would bet that the vise was purchased and used at the Willow Run bomber plant in Ypsilanti Michigan during WW2 . I have been on tours there and is a large museum that I hope could identify it .
If it was one of theirs , I am...
I was just wondering your thoughts on this yost vise .
I have a chance to purchase it for a pretty reasonable price , but can not find any information on it .
Maybe someone else has had one .
I have one picture of it .
I see a couple of the 32c for sale , but they look like newer versions ...
I purchased this vise today . I is a defense plant issued Columbian 124-1/2 bench vise . The jaws open about 12 inches with 4.5 inch jaws . It weighs about 50 pounds . I was wondering if any of you enlightened gentlemen know much about it . I really have not seen many military plant vise , but...

My vise has the single pin in the lower part of the vise .
It is not dated.

My vise weighs 37 pounds and 4.5 inch jaws which is exactly...

The jaws open just shy of 6 inches before they release from the screw .
I have looked at the sticky several times and I am still mystified by what date(s) this vise may have been produced .
any other...
Picked up this Wilton today . This is the first one i have bought that did not have a model number or a date code .
Looks to be a 1941-1944 vise by that lack of date code , but I am still unsure of the model number .
The vise has 4.5 inch jaws
This came from the estate of a 95 year old man who...

Started working on a 9400 from 1951. The vise had at least 4 previous paint jobs. I used the old banned aircraft stripper to soften the first couple layers and let it sit over night . The next morning I scraped off a lot and applied more with some simple green . That afternoon I sprayed more...
