    Homer Simpson moment X2

years ago we were rebuilding a single cylinder motorcycle crankshaft. The big-end was more than a little worn out. The book said we could press out the big end from the ends, so in the press it goes. Press does its press thing and ... nothing. Press wasn't big enough so we need more power...

    Newbie & Impact Gun

I did my Rodeo and it was pretty easy. Tools: 1. Breaker bar - 18"x1/2" 2. Chain vicegrips 3. 2x4 My pulley had a shoulder on the back of it to wrap the chain grips around it. Did that. Propped the grips off the floor with the 2x4. Check the chain will be pulled tighter when the load comes...

Project Update - Architect vs. Engineer Seal in NJ

An architect will verify that the building meets zoning requirements, boundary set backs, shadow planes, windows, doors, etc etc etc. An Engineer will verify that the building will withstand the wind/seismic/dead/live loads without failure. Sounds like you will need to find an Architect to...

    Stud size?

whoa there tcianci - simmer down a bit. It's a stud size question for christs sake. You asked me to clarify a comment I made and you seem to be trying to jump down my throat. Nah that ain't gonna happen. I don't recall claiming a damn thing about buildings being built incorrectly. The OP's...

    Stud size?

no problem The Main Wind Force Resisting System (MWFRS) of a building is the framing that resists the external forces applied to the building and supports the internal loads determined by the service of the building. The external forces are : 1. Wind 2. Snow (blanket and/or drift) 3...

    Large Shop

The roof is a mansard profile, with the trusses being a mansard/scissor design spanning the 55' at 8' centers. That gives me a ceiling at 20' for the middle 15' of the building, so I don't think it will seem to confined. Looking at the drawings again though it does look a little 'roof heavy'...
