We were doing 6.0 and 6.4 diesels. Not trying to scare anybody just a heads up on people like that who are just out to rip off people. I don't want to give the company name because I don't want any more trouble with them, but they are claiming patents on drill jigs for a large number of engines.

Yeah it was a total BS job to force us to buy his stuff or we had to go to court which would have cost more in the long run, win or lose. Patent trolls are a real PITA.

Just a warning we made a similar jig and a patent troll somehow found out and tried to sue us over it. Ended up having to buy all his tools just to shut him up and cost us a pretty penny. We weren't selling our jig either just using it in our shop to fix these same engines.

Yeah I have a few Great Necks and some Duralast stuff, but since finding this forum I have been trying some other brands like my new Proto Big Dawg 1/4 and 1/2 are among my favorites, still waiting to find the 3/8. Next up on the list will probably be the SO FH80 that everyone speaks so highly...

I don't own any of these but have looked at them and IIRC the nut on the end of the rod is removable so it can be slid out from the hex.

I do believe what your looking for is a Porta-vise clamp. I do believe the aluminum ones are discountinued however.
