QuickJack - for those of you wondering

It would be great if someone sold a caster kit or could figure out how to use off the shelf parts. Not sure I can fab those up...

    LM8500 Wall Controller Failure.

Replying to my own post... I took my 880LM off the wall - capacitors visibly look ok, no evidence of shorting on the board or due to excess wire. Liftmaster support asked me to clear all remotes and reprogram them. This led me to look at the manual for the 880LM, which tells you that you can...

    LM8500 Wall Controller Failure.

Anyone had this happen to an 8550W w/ 880LM? I've had some rare but random door openings for a while now. I thought I was just losing my mind or a kid/pet had bumped the remote, but I randomly came across this and I'm quite sure there's more to it now. The MyQ app tracks history of opening and...

Liftmaster 8500 with low head room track?

Thanks to all for the input. Sounds like it's probably not feasible.

Liftmaster 8500 with low head room track?

Anyone ever use a LM 8500 with low head room track? I have approximately 12" of clearance above my door to the joists. Not sure yet if I need a LHR track and if necessary, is an 8500 compatible?

The new 2016 Home Depot Clearance Thread

No go - they searched the SKU on the handheld price checker and couldn't find it. Manager started hunting around for the box, but couldn't find it. Offered it for $50 off the price of a new one, assuming he could find the box and accessories. Decided not to push it.

The new 2016 Home Depot Clearance Thread

Thanks everyone for the tips. I figured SCO was a no go, but this approach sounds reasonable. This HD is a little out of my way, so we'll see if it lasts.

The new 2016 Home Depot Clearance Thread

Tips for buying a floor model clearance leaf blower that is probably pennied out? Just take it to SCO? Seems like it would draw attention by not being in a box. Not sure if it has one of those security tag alarm things? I'm not even worried about getting the battery.

    Insulated door for uninsulated garage?

Thanks everyone! This sounds like a no-brainer.

    Insulated door for uninsulated garage?

Thanks guys! Sounds like the insulated door is worth it. Now, obviously there are many grades of doors, and it seems that R values are not really that helpful in sorting all of this out, especially since I'm focused more on a quality door than the insulating properties. How did you all decide...

    Insulated door for uninsulated garage?

I'm having a 22x20' Versatube (steel) garage built to replace an older, smaller steel garage. My contractor is recommending an insulated door because they are better built. There does seem to be some truth to that, but is it worthwhile for this otherwise uninsulated building? I'm not sure if...

    Liftmaster 8500 vs 8550W

Thanks for the info guys! Clearly people that have it seem happy with the 8500. I haven't really heard any major downsides and there's not a big cost difference. Thanks for the tips. Ceiling (or really the frame) will be 9', so maybe not much advantage to the 8500 perhaps. I thought I could...

    Liftmaster 8500 vs 8550W

The Liftmaster 8500 seems quite popular around here and I'm leaning toward this one. The alternative in my mind would be the 8550 or 8550W. The cost difference seems negligible for the opener itself. I assume installation costs are similar if not less for a jackshaft style opener. FWIW, this...

    The Best Light Fixture Ever!

Any suggestions for a 22x20' garage with approx 9' ceilings? Well 9' to the frame - there is no ceiling per se. I am specifically interested in how many fixtures/bulbs to install so that this will be a well-lit work space. I will go with the 1st post recommendations unless you all think those...

    Contractor recommendation in Newton, MA?

I just bought a house with an 18x18 garage made out of rusty tin. I'd like to tear it down and start over to get something a bit bigger. Looking to get 20x20 at least, but bigger if possible. Goal is to comfortably park two cars and hopefully have room for a small amount of storage. Does...
