    Harbor Freight New drill

I think the Bosch impact that accepts 1/4" drivers and 3/8" square drive in the same tool is innovative. Any thoughts?

For the HVAC guys: heat anticipator meter, stat cover keys, halide leak detector, swaging tool using a hammer. Use adjustable wrenches all the time.

wire as a main or sub-panel?

Your disconnect I think is considered your main. It wiil require 2 ground rods to meet current code. The panel is considered a sub panel and will require separate neutral and ground connections. The panel will also have to be grounded.

Help me price my used box pan brake

I agree the brake was not adjusted correctly. Does it have a counterbalanced handle? Most pan/finger brakes I have used, there was a gap between the fingers to prevent them binding. Just curious.

    Insulating attic-side ductwork

I don't know if this is the most correct method, but it works. I have wrapped existing attic ductwork with 6" unfaced fiberglass insulation on three sides and tuck the insulation under the bottom of the ductwork. The attic was then insulated with blown in type of insulation.

New Trane XR80 Nat Gas Furnace Acting Wonky

The furnace will not sense that the heat exchanger is cold. There is a hi limit to sense an overtemp condition but there is nothing like the old bi-metal fan/limit control on newer furnace. Those went away with standing pilot furnaces.

Need some help with ducted system

Why do you need so many takeoffs? Is the space open or divided up with walls? For reference, a typical exhaust fan is about 100 CFM. You will have problems with airflow unless you can keep the air velocity up.

Need some help with ducted system

You need to know what the CFM rating is on the blower. A 2000 CFM drive is typical. With 16 runs, you would have 125 CFM per outlet not taking into account for duct loss.

    info on heat exchangers

The cause of the problem could be from a manufacturing issue, material issue or even flame impingement. The heat exchanger will be under a negative pressure because of the induced draft on the venting. Old standindg pilot furnaces operated under positive pressure. In any event, it needs looked...
