    Hello from Lincolnshire, UK.

I'll be deuced if I don't know that man. Damn your eyes and capital to have you on the ship, Joskin. (For everybody's interest; Steve, like I, drives a weapon of distinction).

    Cold calls from contractors

If you just tell these people that you would need to ask your landlord before making any changes to the house you rent from him, they waste no time in hanging-up the 'phone. Do this even if you're a home-owner. We get them here in France and my house is entirely my own. But this is the reaction...

my rain barrel water set up , part 1

Well seeing the 12v pump/ solar-topped battery ideas you have in-mind, keeping all where it is sited is probably the tide I'd swim with. Eco re-charge and a pump that works when the water has got low. Great solution, Brian.

my rain barrel water set up , part 1

This is the stuff, Brian...making use of available resources. I don't know what your space is there, but it's a pity the first two couldn't be sited at above head height and the second ones a little higher. Hello, in English...from France.

There is something of the 'Wall of Death' about it isn't there, Ducksface? I had to do quite a bit of remedial work before I began putting anything like weight on the mezzanine. The horizontal holes in the line were convenient, as they took the new joists. But that vertical fissure had to go...

    Hello, in English...from France.

It's difficult to tell, Sam. The house is about 160 years old, some unspecific time after-which the barn was built. Then the farmer of old decided an open-ended hangar was needed at the end of the whole long building, more as a place to park the cattle throughout the Winter, I think. I've seen...

    Hello, in English...from France.

Howdy, fellow garage-loiterers. Drew be the name and I'm a bloke from England who moved to France in 2007. And the big plus of buying the little smallholding we have is that it came with both a barn and an almighty hangar, which I rapidly named 'Hangar-18' (being as I live at no.18...and it's a...
